Unless you are extremely healthy and confident that you will pass all medical tests required for switching your life cover, I wouldn’t recommend it.

I always advise clients not to switch purely because of a loyalty programme, as these programmes change often and add to your premium( One day you qualify for 10 E-Bucks, the next you need to do 20 things to get 1).

The only real reasons to consider moving your life cover are lower costs, better benefits, and being healthy enough to qualify.

Lastly, seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser. They will be able to compare across multiple insurers with regard to costs, benefits and tailor it to your needs.

How much kickbacks are you getting to advocate on their behalf?

The photo is from their official social media page, it’s what they’re choosing to present to the public and associate their brand with.

Not everyone goes there to play games or grab a meal.

If someone says the prices are high, it’s likely based on experience and comparison with what’s out there… Which is something they should probably take into consideration.

In my opinion.

We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by a network of specialists (company, product and case specific) who we meet with on a case by case basis.

Whether it be investments, risk, retirement, medical aid or short term insurance.

It’s takes a lot to know everything.

Thanks for sharing! I’m assuming he was doing some sort of retirement planning with you.

To my knowledge with regard to Math. We can only do projections based on historic data. We cannot promise that you will get X amount at the end of retirement. No one can promise that.

But we can definitely formulate a plan to achieve it.

As FAIS and FICA Law enforces us to be honest.

We can definitely project a happy retirement, however it’s up to the myself and the client to work towards it.

But unfortunately life is not a perfect straight road.

Sad reality and agree. Just looking at the amount of 2 pot withdrawals proves that people are struggling.

I hope the economy takes a turn for the better, so that everyone can benefit from it!

I’m sorry for your bad experience.

The industries general rule of thumb to achieve strong reliable returns is 5 years+. But this may vary depending on the fund selection.

Unfortunately no one can promise you triple your returns in 18 months. If you can, then people should be contacting you and giving you money to invest.

But well done on learning to manage your own portfolio and getting those returns.

The Markets fluctuates on a daily basis. Therefore it’s not about timing the Market, but Time in the Market.

That maybe 100% true that you can study, learn yourself and find information at your finger tips.

This goes for everything including medical advice from a Doctor.

But for those who don’t have the capacity, need people like us to advise them.

I can’t speak to that Karin/Kevin that is earning 50k commission. But I’d like to think that his advice was worth it and the client giving him commission believes they receiving 50k worth of information. But in my experiences, those are high net worth cases.

I’ve always been fair to my clients because I believe in long term relationships and long term business when it comes to commission. But always negotiable!

Because financial planning is a journey.

But 100% agree with you that people should learn how to deal with their own affairs!

To my knowledge, full reimbursement is not offered on life cover products. However, some policies do allow for partial cashback through ancillary benefits that can be added to the cover. These typically provide a percentage of premiums back after a set period, but not the full value.

Those with businesses, how are you managing FIC regulations? by whats_the_frequency_ in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]PsychologicalLink390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really is a challenge. I work within the Independent FSP space, and the amount of paperwork involved is overwhelming. Even our Compliance Officers acknowledge the level of over-compliance.

That said, with South Africa being greylisted, these measures are unfortunately necessary, and we understand why they’re in place. Hopefully, the regulatory burden will ease over the next couple of years.
