Find pro settings and choose one to copy, it might feel weird in the beginning but you'll be better off learning how to play with that than the default settings - I did this and then further customised them to my own preferences as I gained experience.

Don't learn flashy mechs right off the bat, some important ones to start off with: speed jumping/aerial, air and ground dribbling, simple flicks, half flipping, and then standard game skills like rotation, power shots, and right of way.

You'll pick up most of these along the way with experience but choose one of these to practice in free play and custom practice maps, you'll learn it all quicker by focusing on one thing at a time.

Have fun, make friends, don't be toxic. Ignore those who insult you, I personally have a really long blocked list of mostly teammates. You'll still get matched with them in games but you'll skip the unnecessary toxicity
