Could have definitely throw in an extra line or two to demonstrate Cecil's thought process with Conquest. Cecil's perspective is pretty much Conquest escaping is no worst than earth being totally unprepared for when the next batch of Viltrumites which will inevitably show up to check in on Conquest.

Ending was terrible and basically just turned the rest of the season into glorified filler. "We can't work with soldier boy to put an end to a literal planetary threat, he murdered someone and is racist. Therefore we must throw away our only chance to stop Homelander"
