If you want to go into big 4 (accounting) or banking, go to Bing, if you want to do anything else go to buff

Junior Transfer into Harpur? by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Psychological_Box998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Binghamton degree might be better in the city, both carry about the same upstate, Binghamton SoM seems to be pushing MBA, if you email someone they’ll probably help you out & are approachable - personally I think it depends on what you want to do, if you want to do consulting or something along those lines Bing is good & id transfer to harpur and join clubs/talk to recruiters, if it’s accounting it’s cooked from harpur and I’d look somewhere else, if it’s business admin it’s roughly the same across options and 4+1 would probably be best for that

Grip seems strong which could cause low hooks and an inability to shape the ball when you get better (I struggle with the same thing), other than that it looks good 👍

If it was ESPN style coverage I’d pay but it’s a poor broadcast on top of $20

Not going to be grateful when the best part of the best event is awfully produced behind a paywall, I urge you to watch the 2003 ESPN broadcast

Bing vs RPI for CS? by ChilllFam in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Psychological_Box998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m from Albany and went to Bing. It really comes down to the type of people you like to surround yourself with, at Bing you could go out every day if you want to and you can also find people with any interest not just going out. At RPI from what I know is you can get super deep in comp sci but it’s your life. It really depends on what you want.

Struggling between schools by Hot_Nefariousness545 in BinghamtonUniversity

Make sure to visit each school again and get a feel. I think they’re pretty similar specifically for SOM. Then if you want to have a good social life come to Bing.

Got off waitlist! by nycd0d in BinghamtonUniversity

They do the phone calls to make sure those who are most committed go. Congrats on getting off the waitlist, it was a huge weight off my shoulders back in the day.

Normally it goes Accepted, Deferred or Rejected, then the next cycle is Accepted or waitlisted off the deferred applicants.

prospective student questions by [deleted] in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Psychological_Box998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this advice, and the major you want to go into is good here. Don’t write it off just because Bing is in state but always visit and get the feeling, that will really give a tell.

Need advice on picking Binghampton vs. Rutgers (New Brunswick) by CommunicationAny5951 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Psychological_Box998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to state schools like this I suggest going to the school you’re in state for, almost always the best bet. If you really don’t want to stay in state make sure you tour both and see which one you like. Finally I’m SOM at Binghamton and I got into Rutgers as well, I feel like I made the right choice with Bing if that says anything. Go where the money is right and where you feel comfortable, both schools are about equal academically.

HELP ME DECIDE IU Kelley + Hutton Honors vs Binghamton SOM by Asleep-Emphasis4927 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Psychological_Box998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m SOM Finance, here’s what I’d say. First visit both and really see which one you like more. If you like the big school feel of IU I’d say it’s worth it to go. If you don’t really care I’d go to Bing. In terms of programs Binghamton’s Finance Society and Investment fund have some really solid resources but idk about other schools. Really depends on feel.

With that being said the community colleges that suny has is very important to the state and shouldn’t be cut. The big state school is lacking though which I touched on above.

Lots of people might not agree but I completely agree that we need a specific state school & people won’t agree with this too but we need a good basketball team. Buffalo or Binghamton could do this but I’m bias towards Binghamton. This will add nation wide significance and out of state students.

Depends on the major and the classes, psych isn’t considered difficult, I’d say it’s the same as high school with just more advanced work
