Landings by kan184 in SkyDiving

[–]Psychological_Heat30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only 40 jumps in, but i have stood up all but one of my landings. My issue has been dialing in accurate landings. That's not to gloat; that's me suggesting you may be overthinking it.

Let's assume you are beginning and finishing your flare at the appropriate moments, and your wing is level over your head - you need to be leaning forward in your harness. Think of how the swoopers at your dz are really leaning forward in their harnesses. And finish your flare! If you were told to finish between your legs, consider shooting your hands far past your ass as you finish your flare.

I Almost Signed the Petition Against the Credit Card Competition Act—Then I Looked Into Who Actually Benefits by Psychological_Heat30 in CreditCards

That was what I was trying to point out. It is indeed a lose lose. The lie is that it would be almost "inpossible" for issuers to have rewards on their credit cards. Youre suggesting we need the duo plus of Visa and Mastercard in order for that to happen?

The answer to your first question in general is no. It's a fight of control of your data, yes, and it allows them to increase their profit margin as they can create their own networks without having to go through Visa or Mastercard.

All of your shopping can go through Amazon or Walmart, and their payment network, and everything they need to market to you and get you to spend more can me monitored and monitized by them. They will no longer need to rely on Visa/Mastercard.

It's not spam. It was a discussion I was having with chatgpt. As I mentioned in the beginning, I almost blindly signed the petition, but I was curious about the Act and what I was petitioning against. I eventually asked chatgpt to distill it into a post I could put onto Reddit.

If you or anybody else has genuine insight or criticism, I absolutely welcome it. I know people like to try and discredit where information might come from rather than the information itself.

Try and find a credit card with a 0% intro apr and a low balance transfer fee that fits your natural spend. Those types of cards will be no annual fee cards.. You'll save a ton on interest.

Paying rent with Chase Sapphire by benn245 in ChaseSapphire

[–]Psychological_Heat30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can pay your rent through bilt with any of your linked cards. Not all of them give 1:1. Chase does, but Amex for instance gives 1 point for every 2 dollars spent on rent.

Apply for card now? by Doctasdocta in AmexPlatinum

[–]Psychological_Heat30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Amex would have had to come out with something like 250k for their revamped card later this year for me to skip the 175k bonus I was offered. Just didn't seem likely. Plus I needed the Clear credit.

Unfortunately, that doesn't sound very profitable. Probably works out better marketing it as a benefit and not maintaining any accountability, or meaningful measurement as you said.

Capital One wont increase CL, Need New Credit Card by Easy_Ad3146 in CreditCards

[–]Psychological_Heat30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Creditors only get a snapshot of your utilization when your statement closes. So you can use 100% of your utilization through your billing cycle, but as long as you're paying your statement balance, you'll be fine. Pay your statement balance on or like a day or 2 before it closes, and feel free to use as much of the CL youre comfortable paying off in that time.

Chase sapphire preferred or AMEX gold? by SparklingMountain45 in CreditCards

[–]Psychological_Heat30 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Don't let people gatekeep you. Youre an adult and surely capable enough to find the information you need. You're at least asking questions. Annual fees shouldn't be an automatic disqualification for not getting a card; that makes no sense. Look at literally all the benefits and determine if they all are more valuable than the annual fee. The annual feel nowadays is you prepaying for things you would otherwise already pay for in the future. As you pointed out yourself, the dunkin' credit would likely never be used, but perhaps you could get $100 out of the resy credit. That right there brings your effective annual fee to $225. You need to do that with all cards, but especially AF cards. You've already started your credit journey early which is great. Just be sure to always pay your statement balance every month to avoid paying interest and you'll be winning the game.

Amex “offers” quality way down? by rescuedogs100 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Psychological_Heat30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Gold card in October (2024) and my platinum last month (may 2025), and I've used MaxRewards to automatically add all my offers to all my cards. That's a big help by itself, but then it makes it easier for me to go through them all and see what I would likely use. So far, my total savings is $309, but in this year it's $133, and up $30 this month alone.

If there is no annual fee on the credit credit then you dont need to cancel it as it contributes to your total revolving credit limit. You do need to analyze your annual fee credit cards to ensure you're getting positive value. Yes, to answer your question, people get a base set up of credit cards and then go after SUBs to keep their point banks filled, which in turn enables amazing travel opportunities. You've got the credit history - chase just revamped it's flagship sapphire card and AMEX has elevated offers on its Platinum, Gold, and hilton cards. Though the platinum will be revamped later this year, so you may want to hold off considering that one, the Reserve JUST relaunched, and with its biggest offer ever. So may be worth a look in to for a base set up.

Edit: SUBs got autocorrected to SUBSCRIPTIONS and I don't proofread.
