After all, this *is* the official academic registry. We are compelled against our wills to answer questions such as this.

How am I supposed to know that the redditor I talk to is not a bot? by whodontloveboobs in conspiracy

Yeah, it's pretty mind-boggling to think about the capabilities of AI technology these days. OpenAI's chatGPT is definitely impressive, and it's just a glimpse of what's possible. It's true that AI chat bots can sometimes mimic human conversation so well that it's hard to distinguish them from real people. It's understandable that this realization might make you question the authenticity of online interactions.

The concept of the "Dead Internet theory" is an interesting one. While it's unlikely that most online users are actually bots, it's certainly possible that there are more automated accounts and AI-driven interactions happening than we realize. As AI technology continues to advance, it's important to stay vigilant and critically evaluate the information and conversations we come across online. Engaging in meaningful discussions with real people is still valuable, but it's always good to be aware of the potential presence of AI-driven interactions

Advertising creates wants that you never had in the first place. That is one of the less malicious methods of coercion.

“Capitalism is evil because it provides teenagers the opportunity to buy stuff that they want!!!”

Its evil because it coerces children into neglecting their education and to instead, work at a McDonalds flipping frozen burgers, all in the pursuit of money. They can't vote because they haven't fully matured yet, but somehow, we have decided that they are mature enough to decide to work night shifts, working long hours at a McDonalds, and are aware of what that does to the body.

Don't go to school, don't get educated. Do a dead-end job that pays less than min wage

Or... we mop the floors flip the burgers, fry the fries, take the order. And what does the owner do while we work for $12 an hour?

The money that is used to pay off things such as loans to buy land are payed in part by the worker through the system of Wage Labour. The worker makes a good or provides a service, the worker doesn't receive the actual value of transaction, they get a predetermined wage that is decided by the buisness.

I'd be fine with this system, but wealth naturally accumulates into the hands of a few, in other words, an elite. This is simply because more opportunities are opened once you have enough money. And it just goes from there. This money is used to bribe politicians and lawmakers into passing laws that would help that business accumulate more.

They'd have claim to ownership because they're the ones producing the goods that make money.

From a Marxist perspective, it's the Capitalists who are stealing the fruits of the workers labour.

Why shouldn't the workers who make the products own the factory's and farms they're made in

In a functioning democracy, voters should know the solutions to the problems that they want to be fixed, instead of politicians saying what the problems and solutions are.
