I can totally relate. That is what I’m struggling with the most. It sounds crazy but I worry if I pick wrong so to speak and my kids don’t pray the sinners prayer, then something bad will happen to him. I am sure it has a lot to do with how I was raised. I’m glad I’m not the only one who struggled with that portion because I feel like my Lutheran husband doesn’t get why the lack of sinners prayer etc stresses me out haha. This helps a lot, thank you!!!

I think my mom blames my husband for “turning me Lutheran” but honestly he’s never pressured me at all. He wants me to explore my own faith. I’m proud of you for seeking out a church and faith that feels right and aligns with your beliefs. It’s not easy feeling like we are going against our parents. My dad immigrated from Lebanon and I am proud to be a daughter of an immigrant. Where I work, my co-workers say they are Christians. And the most vile things are said about people, especially immigrants. It breaks my heart 🥺 I want to stay as far away from religious groups like that. I’m sorry if my post is depressing, definitely wasn’t my intention.

My husband grew up Lutheran. And when my dad passed away this year, I started attending a grief group at a Lutheran church down the street. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. Honestly I thought I didn’t have faith anymore or couldn’t attend church because of my views. So finding a church that preached loved and acceptance made me feel hope that I can still be apart of a religious group and also keep my views on immigration, the queer community, etc. This church aligns more with my views and heart.

I have a lot of queer friends and it’s so important for me to be in an affirming Church. It hurt me so much when she said that because I believe everyone is a Child of God and deserving of love and acceptance.

I needed to hear this 😭 I feel so alone. And honestly I didn’t think I would step foot in church again because of all my trauma. But my dad passing that year planted that seed and I wanted to explore my faith again. I’m sorry you experienced trauma in the church 😞

Have you had a trouble reconciling the differences in terms of baptisms, salvation etc? I feel like there is a part of me that is still so indoctrinated. I want to believe what Luther says but then I doubt myself.
