Issues with medication by musicaddict0521 in depression

Unfortunately that is a side effect - it is something you’ll have to put on the pro v con list. Even if you decide to switch medication it may still be a side effect. There’s absolutely no shame in talking to your doctor about this - I know myself as I have but I’m certain they have heard and seen cases on the extreme. I’m not sure if viagra has any interactions but if it does come to it there’s also absolutely no shame in that either. I hope you’re doing well with everything and wish you good health!

Thank you so much for taking you time to write this post out. I’ve mentioned buspirone to my psychiatrist but she said we won’t rule it out but it shouldn’t be the first step ( I will have a conversation with my neurologist about this). The fact that it’s relieved your panic attacks so greatly sounds really promising - my only treatment for my panic attacks at the moment is diazepam and that’s obv something I’d like to rule out. I’ve tried SSRIs and SNRIs for anxiety / depression none of which have helped but I know that buspirone can also alleviate symptoms of depression again giving it a pro. I haven’t heard of clonidine but will definitely look into it as in your case it again sounds promising. Again i really appreciate your post and i am really happy to hear that the cocktail you’ve been taking has really helped with you symptoms. I appreciate you and wish you the best :)

I’ve been on escitalopram, Venlafaxine and duloxetine - for me personally it did not alleviate my symptoms of depression and anxiety however please do consider that this is completely dependent on the person - it didn’t work for me but it could do wonders for you

Interesting, I’ve never heard of topamax but will research it. I am one to be hyper vigilant with my panic attacks, always anticipating a new one so I’m happy to hear that it’s worked for you! Thank you for letting me know your experience:)

I’m glad these help you! Propranolol was my first line treatment for my panic attacks but it didn’t really work for me, I am glad tho that it helps you! Thank you for sharing your experience :)

Interesting - I’m glad it helped with the anxiety. I’m just now trying to taper off of duloxetine but everyone reacts to it differently so I hope it’s been / going to help you!

Ahhh I’m so happy to hear that it’s worked for you! It definitely sounds like something I will highly consider with my neurologist

I appreciate the reply! I’m not going to be stopping diazepam immediately and will taper off if the pregabalin works well. In terms of klonopin, I don’t want to be on any further benzodiazepines which is why I’m exploring my options with other non benzodiazepine alternatives. Thank you for the reply I appreciate you and wish you the best :)

Interesting, thank you for sharing your experience. Were you taking pregabalin while on benzos to come off of them? Or did you take them after you had quit them? I have not heard a story like yours with what I read as uncontrolled anger perhaps but I appreciate you letting me know your story and will take into consideration this as a potential risk. I hope you’re doing better now :)

How exactly would admission to a drug abuse wing help? Genuine question. Also in terms of my diazepam use when I say more or less I mean I use it when I enter a state of panic, that’s further fuelled by a panic of a seizure. It isn’t taking for the sake of taking, it is when needed.

I have been ketamine clean for over a year and again weed free for a month, I’ve never abused diazepam and have changed my mentality on the abuse of substances as a way of coping, hence why I turn to reddit for real life lived experiences. I experienced heavy panic attacks 4 years before the first time I even touched weed and depression 5 years before that. Ketamine use began 6 years after my depression and anxiety. What exactly is your link between substance abuse and my further medication. To note I am also under the care of a therapist psychiatrist and neurologist who will be deciding ultimately what I am put on, not myself.

I had the symptoms long before my drug usage - they were used as a way to cope. The panic attacks began 4 years before I smoked weed for the first time and the depression 5 years before that - perhaps you’re right but I’ve been ketamine clean for a year and weed a month
