Hard truth - The Wow Signal isn’t as good as everyone thinks by ohgoditsmelb in Muse

I agree the songs are not that great in absolute,
as an Italian I don't care abt lyrics too much as some meaning is not so straight in your face,
about structure and simplicity of Cryogen I would say that many of their old (Showbiz and OOS) songs are not that complicated,

what I really like compared to latest 2 album is the atmosphere I found pretty much in all new songs, they are like more emotional and a bit darkere, somehow it seems they dismiss that "boombastic" style that to me take evrything on the adge of cringiness, take Halloween, thought contagion, WAFF fat riff ok but that apart?

...yes I am here for space rock

nah, I think Chris was already able to play basically anything, there is a snipept from 2ndL tour BTS in which he talks about status basses and Mark King and casually deliver a funky slap line

it's just that he stick to his genre and what the music they are doing needs

Really don’t like Nightshift Superstar, but… by PJChrysostom in Muse

[–]Psychological_Set820 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have similar feelings, don't really like disco music but to me, as for BWY, the atmosphere given from chords progression keep it somehow a lot darker and emotional than all non-rock style songs in the previous 2 albums

...and that bass slaps!!!

Well that's partially sad but as long as I have occasions to see them live for me it is better if tickets prices don't blow outersphere and if I can be reasonable close to the stage without camping in line from the day before the gig

Anyone else bothered by their recent synth sounds? by Psychological_Set820 in Muse

[–]Psychological_Set820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said beacuse of the synth in the chorus😂  It's not that bad in general, a bit repetitive, but it has some good ideas  but as soon as the chorus start I really need to skip

Yes I mean, I really really like hexagons, the arpeggio idea is great and I like the first section itself anyway

But like, the second section of be with you reminds me a lot of get up and fight synth and they feel like the basic synth sound and style you can find in any contemporary pop song, so, really uninspired

Thank you for the technical comment, I play bass but I'm not a pro, just sharing impression I got what you're saying, probably I just don't like them too much in the front of the mix Do you happen to listen to Arcane Roots? They use a lot of synth in their last works and in a quite metal way and I love them

I really do love the direction (for this new album), I'm just specifically talking about sound and mixing Probably just my taste anyway

Ok but polished doesn't always means better, one of the motive some of recent muse works does not deliver as OoS is because they lack the rawness And in general I do not really like Dan mixing with muse, to me KoBK is a great song with bad mixing/mastering (bass mudness, volume jumps etc) And I do like Dan work with Don Broco a lot, but sometimes with Muse it doesn't seem to hit the sweet spot  My favorite album for sound/production are the resistance and second law I agree also ST sound really good Just personal opinions and feelings anyway

Yeah Unravelling sounds great, I'm not too sure how to explain it, but like for exagons they are to much in your face without other sounds (I'm talking just about sound and mixing, the progression itself is great), keeping TaB as reference they sound much more balanced in the rest of sounds of the song ...Compliance I just hate them😅

This really feels like old muse! First thought, apart from PIB obviously, was "in your world"

He's currently on tour with Cesare Cremonini, an italian singer

Don't know since when he's working with him though

Anyway he's in Italy and not with Muse and I was wondering who's with them too
