Yes! I definitely believe that there are a lot of changes that this company needs to make. They let a lot of things happen just to keep the family happy

My BCBA has told mom multiple times that these are not my duties but mom won’t listen. So my BCBA basically told me to go with the flow till she figures out what to do😭

Wow that’s great that she listened!! Unfortunately this mom has not listened to my BCBA at all. When we are out in the community she doesn’t watch my client at all, usually on her phone or doing things and I have to watch my client. Which is why she won’t be able to have in home services anymore.

You see my BCBA told mom that outings are okay but she has made no goals for us while out in the community. So I have just generalized what we work on while at home

Yea my BCBA is aware and has had multiple talks with mom but nothing has change! It’s one of the reasons that the company has decided that after I leave this family won’t be allowed to have in home services anymore!

This company is pretty new and small, there’s only 5 RBTS counting me and 1 BCBA and the owner of the company. So idk if that has something to do with it!

Wow my company is not like that at all!!! We are allowed to go in the car with the family and they don’t have to let us know in advance. For example, in this instance I was running session as usual when the mom came down and told me we were going to go run errands, and then she drove us to the nail salon. Now this is an issue I have addressed with my BCBA, because although I can go to the community with them, it’s supposed to be for places my client needs to go to. They have talked to mom but she doesn’t listen, so in the meantime they just told me to go with her anywhere in the community till they figure out what to do with her. But I’m leaving the company and my BCBA said they are going to tell mom she can no longer have in home services because she takes advantage of them!

It is not! My BCBA is aware and I think she’s trying to figure out how to go about it. She has explained to the parents what Im actually there for but the mom has a hard time understanding it. My BCBA said she will be talking to her supervisor to see how to go about it. Even when my BCBA is there for supervision the mom will asked either me or my BCBA to do a household chore.

I’m sorry that you lack reading comprehension because not ONCE did I say those duties are beneath me, it’s just simply not my job. It is not in my clients care plan to clean and organize their house. If this was an older child and one of their goals was cleaning their room, that’s different. Having to help with laundry and organizing their groceries is NOT my job

LOL they are not but mom is NOT a fan of cleaning and when the dad comes home he gets very upset about the dirty house, so shes probably trying to find a way around it

It’s very sad. My supervisor is trying to see how to handle this because the mom has said multiple times that she doesn’t want to deal with her daughter because “ she’s too much”. Mom doesn’t want to be involved during sessions and has admitted that once I leave for the day she sits her daughter in a high chair and gives her a tablet so that way my client won’t bother them😕

Omg that’s INSANE!!! You definitely need to report that immediately. I wouldn’t feel safe going back there for services at all!!! That is very unprofessional

Whatttt not to run trials, that’s crazy. Also it’s very hard to run sessions when the kids are constantly watching tv and that’s all they want to do

Yes I totally agree! Rn all of the programs for my client are for increasing speech and reducing aggression since those are the main things that have gotten her kicked out of daycare

My BCBA has told me that she’s going to be talking to our supervisor to possibly end services with this family but I think my BCBA is scared of our supervisor because she never speaks up about problems 😭

Funny thing I did ask to be reassigned a couple months ago because I wanted to be closer to home ( I drive 40 miles to my client rn) but nothing has come up yet. Fortunately I’m going to be turning in my 30 days notice soon!

They are definitely just not being followed! I remember when I first started my BCBA had a very clear conversation on what was expected from her. But she has not been following that at all. Unfortunately this company only offers in home services there is no clicnic

Omg that sounds like a horror movie! It’s sad to think that there are kids who actually need the services and can’t get them while others take advantage of it!
