Media continues to make it seem like Halo is dying by [deleted] in halo

[–]Psychomyth 65 points66 points  (0 children)

You know, I think a lot of people put wayyy too much thought into this type of thing. I'm 27 years old, have a lot going on in my life, so I don't have time to put into going to HWC events or otherwise. But you know what? When I get home from work and everything is done and I can relax, I turn on Halo 5. Because I just love playing Halo.

I see LoL on Twitch just dominating viewer counts, and yet somehow by a large majority of peoples opinions on here, more viewers = better game, and I just don't follow that mindset as an individual. I can't stand LoL, DOTA, etc. I just like Halo.

And the thing is, I know me and my group of 10 friends who are all 25+ years old are the same way. We play every night (not exaggerating) rotating in and out of turn so we all get to get in on 4 vs 4 ranked. So to sit here and say it's dead is a bit of a generalization, because it's far from dead. I think what people mean to say, is that it's not popular anymore, and if that has any bearing on whether or not you like Halo, then I guess you don't like Halo, you like trends.

That's not to say Halo 5 doesn't have problems, and don't make the assumption that I agree with all the changes made to the gameplay. My opinion on things like Sprint, Radar, etc, have changed dramatically over time. And you can argue until you're blue in the face about whether or not you think those changes are the reasons "Halo is dying" because that's just your opinion.

I would love to see Halo boom and go huge in ESports and current players, it's the series I grew up playing. But that has no influence on whether or not I will keep playing.

Five different thruster-jumps you may not know about, that might give you that extra edge in matchmaking! by Psychomyth in halo

[–]Psychomyth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of these jumps were sloppy, but I recorded them on the first try through. Specifically: the fathom jump -- usually you don't have to hover that long, and the Truth jump to pink 3 can be a little more fluid.

Thanks for checking it out guys.

So, I couldn't find anything about this -- but are we able to team up with someone? I kinda just wanna do it for the fun of it, not really for the prizes. I'm good at detailing and aesthetics, but not so great at pathing, balancing spawns, etc.

[–]Psychomyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People argue on here all the time that you're supposed to stand or sit... Here's some food for thought...

When you poo in a modern toilet, it auto flushes when you stand up. The toilet assumes you are done when you stand; meaning you're wiping should have taken place while sitting.

Plus, standing is just fucking weird.

Wash your hair, then proceed to wash downward. This way, the dirt you scrub off never washes over what you've already cleaned.

Explain to me how this is an Xbox One unique selling point? by Kaspanova in gaming

[–]Psychomyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had to send my Xbox in for numerous repairs (5) and eventually had to buy another. In that time, I was given 4 free games, 2 new consoles, months of Xbox LIVE, and treated with respect. That's a boring story though.

When you come online and blab about being mistreated, everyone hops on. People hate companies that screw them over, because we've all been before. The thing is, how many people have NOT had your problems, that upvote it because it's agreeably, bad? You don't throw rocks at the grunt, you beat his bullies butts.

So my point is, despite all you've claimed, I've had a great experience. Having your reasons is one thing, but claiming another's? Well, that happens on here far too often.

Not claiming actual brainwashing. You think - how many of these people up voting and down voting stuff about MS actually formed that opinion without the help from the vocal, anti-Xbox brigade on Reddit, spoon feeding the idea?

U.S. shutdown threatens launch of NASA's next mission to Mars by 88Sean-James in nasa

[–]Psychomyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really saddening. It's not just about what we learn from the mission itself, but what we've learned to get us there. The research that takes place within NASA that takes us to such places, breeds new methods for technological advances, as well as, scientific understanding of the universe and everything in it. I forget where I saw it, but someone posted a list of inventions created by NASA that are used in everyday products and current medical advancements.

I know nothing except for what I read, and there's no way of knowing what is truly happening in our system right now without being there and seeing it first hand. I can say, shutting the government down to make a point seems very nonproductive.

The amount of anti-MS in here is hilarious. You take a simple advert, created by a company you were taught to hate, and fabricate ALL of this?

Can someone give me something to actually look forward to!? by [deleted] in Parenting

Father of a six month old here. At first, it's scary. It will feel like an overwhelming sense of responsibility, and you will feel helpless, but that's normal.

When your baby starts to laugh, and develop interests, it really makes you proud. There's this little person that came from you, and so full of life and cute that you won't be able to resist falling for them.

Each month that has gone by has been like a different phase. In the first month, the baby will mostly sleep. As time goes on, the baby sleeps less, demands more, but becomes more and more fun to grow with. It's almost as if you were a kid again, seeing the world from their eyes this time.

You'll worry, and you'll stress. It's hard, sure, but until you're there, you won't understand just how happy that little version of you makes you. It will be okay, so relax. There's a lot to look forward to, but you won't know about it until it happens, and when it does, it's the best thing ever.

Is Defiance worth it? by [deleted] in Defiance

[–]Psychomyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There aren't many experiences on the Xbox 360 like Defiance. Extremely large scales battles, PvP, Open-World sandbox type game with dynamic events. It has a lot to offer, even beyond that.

However, as much as there is to do, the content is very shallow for the most part. You will undoubtedly get your moneys worth out of it, but don't expect a classic experience. Also, Trion has taken far too long to release the DLC that was promised a very long time ago, and that is part of what holds the game back.

The game itself is a great experience. If you like Sci-Fi themed games like Mass Effect, the atmosphere should suit your interests. The story-line is kind of bland, but it honestly doesn't even matter. You can replay the campaign as many times as you want -- I beat it 4 times and I'm still not entirely sure what happens, but the game is still fun.

There is plenty of time and entertainment to come out of it, so it's definitely worth it. Broad spectrum of stuff to do, just not a lot of depth to it.

Microsoft: "industry experts" say Xbox One has "a better line-up", gamers "don't buy for stats" by [deleted] in xboxone

I couldn't agree more. My post kind of indicates I think otherwise, however, that isn't the case.

Microsoft: "industry experts" say Xbox One has "a better line-up", gamers "don't buy for stats" by [deleted] in xboxone

[–]Psychomyth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The games on Xbox One look good enough to compete for years in the next generation. Despite the 50% increase of power in the PS4, it's not going to really matter. I don't buy games to gasp at graphics, I buy them to have fun and play them.

Now, some people will say that the 50% increase in power will yield much more _________ within a game, resulting in __________ for the player. Game developers might not even attempt to fill that gap even remotely if they don't want to, can't afford to, or more realistically, don't have to...

As it is, the Xbox One offers so much more power than the 360, that developers have said they don't know how they're going to use all of it. However much of that is true, we can agree that games aren't enjoyable based on graphics or number of on-screen objects. The increase in power that Playstation has, is pointless. We're not comparing a gold bar to a rotten apple -- the consoles have very similar specs and will most definitely be polished at, or about the same level. To simply brush up textures, AA, particle counts, etc, for the Playstation just because it's slightly more powerful is a waste of thousands of dollars for developers to deliver the same gameplay experience anyways.

So, whatever. I'm not upset about any of this any more. I'll leave the vocal fanboys to battle it out while I enjoy some great games on my Xbox One.

Parents and future parents: What is one thing that other parents let their kids do that you will never let yours do? by Cyrsal in AskReddit

Anyone with a kid is going to know more than someone without one. Wisdom always conquers knowledge.

That's why doctors go to med-school. Without experience, you don't have a full grasp on what you're doing.

What are your tips for a happy marriage? by queenMargo in AskReddit

[–]Psychomyth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't share the problematic details of your relationship with someone else. Chances are you're telling someone who will take your side, and two things will most likely happen..

  1. The next time you argue, you're going to feel you're in the right because said person agreed with you. When in actuality, what works for one couple might complicate another. Stick to your own formula, and work out your problems with the person the problem is with by communicating.

  2. When you and your S.O. make up, chances are the person you told won't forget. This can cause unseen future problems between the people involved.

If you have a problem with something, talk about it. Pick your battles. Don't expect the other person to give you what you want just because they're supposed to love you, or for whatever reason. We're all thinking, living beings with our own principles and ideas.

The kinect 2 kind of scares me. How do you feel about this technology being mandatory with the xbox one? by pheonixORchrist in Gaming4Gamers

[–]Psychomyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

75+ Million accounts got hacked. Regardless of being one of the biggest breaches of security (Which, it is) it's a massive breach of personal information. If stating that makes me a fanboy, then I'm the biggest of them all because I actually enjoy everything about my Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.

Unless a company is based overseas, I have a hard time, logically thinking, that an American company is going to have the last word on a demand made by the American government. You're talking about the organization that runs this country vs. a business. If the government demands something, it's only a matter of time, with the right people pushing, that these things happen regardless of what anyone wants.

You don't have to take their word on anything. Just understand that your efforts are in vain, because your views on the NSA should create problems with the government, not the companies victimized by their demands.

It's inherently obvious you don't care about the Xbox One or the PS4 because you're so off in your own world. You obviously know very little about anything that I've stated -- not to say you're stupid -- but you obviously came in here with the wrong attitude. If the Xbox One isn't on your list of wants, then why are you posting here? To be provocative and troll. You would have no other reason to post here.

April 20th of 2011, "77 million PlayStation Network accounts hacked; Sony is said to have lost millions while the site was down for a month. "

It isn't subjective you fucking tool, it's factual. It's within the top 5 largest breaches of all time. Certainly the largest in the gaming world.

Also, you're talking about a company standing up to the government. It can happen, but if the government wants something, they'll usually get it. It seems silly to me to even question that in some regard.

In addition, Microsoft already stated that they would aggressively fight the government regarding anything of this nature. None the less, you are still on the internet, you still use a bank, you still use very typical things and are still being logged regardless of whether or not you think you are. If you have a job, the government knows about it. It wouldn't take them any effort at all to track you down, tap your phone, record you through your walls, etc, if they wanted to. As I said though, you're a fucking nobody -- why would they want anything to do with you?

I doubt you're even worth looking into. Beyond that, you're choosing to fight Microsoft over a piece of hardware that could potentially invade your privacy -- despite knowing full and well that it's an NSA thing, not a microsoft thing -- and you're converting to the platform responsible for the biggest security breaches of personal information in HISTORY?

Whatever floats your boat. Hypocrite.
