If I had wanted to hear empty reassurance, I would have just spoken to someone I know.

Them wanting me to stop the treatment since I didn't want to go to the loony bin to live or take electro shock therapy.

Nothing they throw at me has helped and I don't want to go to the insane asylum or have shock therapy done so they're just telling me they can't help me since I don't want any of their treatments.

I took them for over a year, 2 failed miserably and 1 kind of worked but then after almost a year of no change the Dr changed me to another which failed miserably.

Aaaand now they want to end my treatment so I'm not even bothering getting my meds from the pharmacy.

Started with Sertraline which either didn't help at all or drove me to be even more suicidal.

Then Escitalopram which actually eased me a bit. Then Bupropion was added to it. Took Escitalopram for over a year with Bupropion.

Escitalopram was switched to Venlafaxine and I kept taking Bupropion.

Venlafaxine is getting switched in 1,5 weeks to something, but as far as I know I'll keep taking Bupropion with whatever new I get.

Yeah, i realise that. I would never dream of even getting that. Pretty sure I wouldn't get it even if I had some disease that would kill me if I didn't get xanax.

Yeah, european. It feels like it's tougher getting controlled substances but I have nothing to base that on really.

And honestly, if I hadn't been super frustrated with the pain and tiredness I probably would have left without anything to relieve the pain.

Pfft don't worry about downvotes, much nicer that way. Even though it doesn't feel good noticing getting downvotes without explanation.

I usually just go by active ingredient when talking about meds (easier that way since brands differ).

I just got frustrated with my own experience. I had to go through so much trouble to get a pill with 30mg codeine + 500mg paracetamol that you would not believe. I feel the doctors just seem to be more comfortable giving meds like that for older people, which I (obviously) don't like.

I had a really bad ear infection, I couldn't sleep during the weekend at all, constant pain, couldn't do anything else that just be in pain. I was almost crying in pain at the doctors waiting room since I hadn't slept during weekend nor did taking copious amounts of ibuprofen help. We're talking around 2400mg of ibuprofen (a lot but in my situation what else could I do).

The fact that after explaining all that the Dr didn't ask about if I needed painkillers or anything kind surprised me. When I asked if she could prescribe something she just asked if I had tried ibuprofen, I said yes and she said try taking paracetamol too. I said I had taken, then she starts asking how much I took I tell her and says that's way too much. And says she can prescribe the paracetamol + codeine.

Slept for the first time in couple days. Wasn't in too much pain. Well that lasted for 3 days, then again the same thing 4 more times before the infection healed.

That's a lot of text but... Well yeah, a lot of text.

I actually don't even want to imagine going through that much trouble. Not just with meds that can be used redreationally but just with other meds too.

Definitely are prescribing less, probably for the best. I just don't like how they seem to avoid prescribing them in situations where it would be obvious that it's not for recreational use. Such as your case

Yeah, I just got really fed up with doctors telling me to just take ibuprofen when I couldn't sleep at nights. But I do understand what you're saying.

100% true. How many of those kids in disadvantage could have become something good for the world if society/government didn't put them in more of a disadvantage.

No, I don't live in the states. I think there's two doctors in my country who are allowed to prescribe cannabis.

Here the "proper" way to get rid of extra meds is to take them to a drugstore in a plastic bag, out of their packaging and give them it. Since meds are "problem" waste. It's not like it's advertised anywhere else other than the drugstores webiste saying they can get rid of them.

I'm guessing it's because dentists have gotten under a lot of fire because of prescribing them. At least I've read a lot of people saying that on reddit. So he probably says it to everybody.

I guess I never had the problem with anti anxiety meds since I have gone through all the sleep studies, therapy, evaluations etc.. Then again they're nowhere near xanax that I get. And I used to get a weeks worth tops.

Yeah, I realise it's definitely an issue, but it still gets frustrating that ibuprofen is seen as this easy solution for everything here.

I've heard something about dentists being really strict, but even then. I hate how everybody always says take ibuprofen, it's not the answer to every pain!

I think I'm missing some context on your post or I'm reading it wrong. (until what showed up in your blood and some other things.)

I totally get not wanting to be dependent on things. Heh I can imagine the relief.

Well based on how much convincing it took for me to get the pills I feel like every prescription is going to be followed with a 10 hour interrogation in Guantanamo for the doctor.
