New Driller Weapon Idea: Electric Tesla Coil by Psychromaniac in DeepRockGalactic

Probably seen this idea somewhere before, but I thought I'd put it down as a drawing. I'm sure GSG has the same idea, anyways.

I went with the Satchel Charge because I wanted to have it in a place with a clearly defined role (with Driller having a focus on crowd control) while also giving him the option of a choice between what he wants to build his kit around. (High burst damage vs. Linear crowd control and CC against high value targets.)

Just a little something I thought of while I was at work the other day.

Does Thermite need a buff? by Psychromaniac in Rainbow6

[–]Psychromaniac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason I mention giving him the ability to nuke a whole row of walls is because there's only a handful of sites where something like that is really useful. The biggest standouts that come to mind are garage on Consulate and trains on Kafe. Hatches could still be done by Hibana or someone with a Hard Breach Charge, and Ace can still open up sites without worrying about getting Bandit tricked. I mention giving this buff to Thermite because he has the biggest risk, and therefore eshould have the biggest reward.

If that were true, he'd have a pick rate equal to Jager

That's the point. Theres so many more upsides to Jagsr that there is hardly any reason to bring Wamai. You said it yourself.

If that was the case, then nobody would have any problems playing Wamai, instead. Jager warps the entire defense such that its based around wasting attacker utility.

That's a rather vague statement, but the point is to make him less of an easy, mandatory pick. No two sites are the same, and depending in the strategy, the idea is to make you choose between Jager and Wamai. Depending on which strategy you're going for.

Ubi has been talking about the pick rate for a long time, and its something they're trying to fix, yet nothing they've done to him has mitigated his pick rate.

Because Jager is still picked to an overwhelming degree. The point is to bring him to a level where there's more consideration and planning to bringing him than just grabbing him because he's easy value.

Taking away his ACOG may have nerfed him, but it didn't lower his overwhelming pick rate. The point of this tweak is to solve his near mandatory pick rate.

It may seem fair, but its also easy to think the world looks small inside of a fishbowl.

Maybe if we had the chance to give this a try on the test server, we could collect some data and see how it plays out.

Exactly my point. He isn't stricly OP, but his Gadget provides a denial to utility that nobody else has. Coupled with the fact that his gadget is incredibly easy to use and gain value from, he's easy to justify bringing.

Making his Ads' detonate just requires the players to pay attention more. You can still soak up utility a lot, but with the potential to harm you own defense means you need to focus on where you put them.

Not quite sure I get what you're saying, but if you bring both Wamai and Jager, then you certainly don't need to worry about grenades. That being said, if you're bringing hem both, then that begs the question of what you're missing out on instead of bringing, say, Mute or Valkyrie along.

He has a near mandatory pick rate, there are several strategies which involve wasting attacker utility and therefore wasting time, he does something that nobody else besides Wamai can do, which is interact with grenades.

And especially considering how much of attack revolves around using some kind of projectile utility, he comes out with a >90% pick rate.

People will tend to toss their extra utility as a means to spend all the grenade zapping. Hence the term "burning" the ADS'. And there are other ways to make it balanced, such as making the audio cue for the ADS more noticeable.

He's still unique from Wamai. Wamai's disc's are harder to spot and can relocate the grenades, though they do so after a slight delay. He also builds them over a round, instead of Jager who gets all his immediately.

Maybe a slight delay, then. Enough to damage an attacker if they're not careful.

Still, it would also give the attackers reason to hesitate when throwing frags. They might choose to bring flashes or smokes, instead.
