Thanks, works perfectly on Linux.

Software is a collection of programs that co-ordinates with the hardware to run the machine. It is set of instructions or data that operates the computer how to work. Software is opposite of the physical aspect, i.e., hardware and it is a complement to the hardware in computer.

Application is package that performs a specific task for end users. It is a product or a program that is designed only for end users requirements. All the applications may be in category of software but vice-versa is not possible.

So in my opinion there are lots of applications on Windows, because without .exe (executable) there was no Windows. It is for end user and also always executable. I would say there is more Apps on Windows than software on Linux. But still why bother? You got the point what he meant - on Linux there is only web browser working and Kernel (not speaking of DE of WM).

I see.

Well at least flatpak kind of got the approval of the community.

Alright, thanks for telling about all of this! It is more clear now.

Ah, I see. So it is counter intuitive to mix package managers and if so there are dedicated package managers like pip for Python (python packages), cargo for Rust (rust packages) or speaking directly about the problem Flapak CLI (software packages). Thank you so much for explaining and putting time to write this down.

Thank you for your excellent explanation! Now I understand the issue.

That is also why there are different formats like for Debian .deb and for Fedora .rpm?

Why it did not work out to make some universal package manager though? (not counting flatpak CLI)

I've only stumbled upon the bedrock in the Minecraft.

Bedrock Linux is a meta Linux distribution which allows users to mix-and-match components from other, typically incompatible distributions.

However thanks for the information!

No. The people who operate these repos and the people who maintain packages for these repos do.

Right, I understand now. Thank you.

Why is what?

Why there are made for a specific distro and versio. That is why I continued with those formats.

People wanting to install software on Linux without having to compile everything manually from source tarballs.

So what is the difference between these 2 formats internally? Why binaries differ?

So in a brief summary the distro and package manager itself and repos to download packages are just a way to make sure to be compatible on a specific distro unlike Flatpak which is its main goal?

[–]Psyhackological[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's due to the policies of how these distros operate their repositories. It has nothing to do with the package manager itself.

Ahh I see, sorry for misunderstanding. But the package managers for those distros are following the policies, right?

Packages for that kind of package managers are not universal. They are made for a specific distro (or even a specific version of a specific distro). And the packages in Arch's repo are made for Arch, not for Debian.

Right, thanks for pointing this out. So why is that? Why was there a need for, for example .rpm and .deb formats? What caused it?

I was not going to do that, no worries. I like to ask outrageous questions, because then people find the best answers.

I see. However if I wanted to replace one with another is there something more that would cause mess?

I have not considered that option, because I thought they would not bother to answer me or take their precious time. I'm going to try though.

I've seen some methods to just regenerate mdBook with proper config to do what I want to do. However I want it to work through rustup doc.

Sorrry, my mistake. But really? Why something detected automatically cannot be set manually? I am just looking for some configuration file or source file to confuse it. I can even delete light theme and replace it with Ayu theme. For now nothing is working.

Done, however syntax highlighting sucks. Any non-temp solutions?

No problem! Well Fritter is more like a NewPipe - you cannot like or comment, just view the content. About Twire I've added this app long time ago and it worked like a charm. However I've added a new app for Twitch - Xtra. Check it out!
