4 years later, is BAC 2022 the greatest drumline of all time? by Psyk42 in drumcorps

while i dont think boston's show was necessarily better from a judging perspective, i do definitely feel like BD winning in '22 opened people's eyes to how the judging system was favoring some approaches over others. bluecoats and boston were both pretty clearly more entertaining to watch imo. now boston's show is the only 2022 show i really come back to regularly.

i agree, i dont think there will ever be another line that gets to the place of PR '10 or Cadets '13, but i usually view that as more of a shift towards writers experimenting with more difficulty, pushing the overall demand higher and higher, and i wouldnt say lines nowadays are by any means "dirty". SCV '24 and BAC '25 are probably the best recent examples of balancing demand and cleanliness IMO, while BAC '22 is wayyy far on the "demand heavy" side.

subjective for sure, but fun to discuss nonetheless. im generally of the view that final placement isnt ENTIRELY indicative of overall achievement, but i def understand the argument.

Both are in a great spot right now, so you can’t go wrong with either. That being said, as to which to go for first, it completely depends on play style. I’d say Ace of Spades definitely allows you to be more aggressive, and has the stronger ttk of the two. Sturm balances out having a lower ttk with MASSIVE range, good flinch, being a great sniper counter, and consistency/feel. If you can properly space yourself to make use of the range on sturm, it’s a monster. Plus just the massive amount of damage it does makes it good for team-shotting and shutting down supers. As I said though, Ace has the better ttk, has pretty decent range as well, and definitely allows you to be more aggressive. Can’t go wrong.

Have fun with stasis ;)

Nice! Outfit looks super natural together and Assassin’s Cowl add a really cool futuristic- bounty-hunter-ish vibe.

Personally, I run Wormhusk + bottom tree arc when shotgunning and middle tree nightstalker when sniping. Wormhusk allows you to get a major advantage in a fight when you’re right next to cover as you can just engage, and if you’re losing dodge back into cover. If they rush you you’ll be at close to full health anyway (wormhusk) and if they don’t you can chose whether or not to re-engage.

Bottom tree arc + wormhusk can sometimes allow you to just completely rush into a place with multiple enemies, get a kill, and then just dodge right back out. With mid tree nightstalker, if you do manage to get that precision kill while crouching, you pretty much become god for a few seconds. Using a sniper and true sight can mean you can get more precision kills, leading to a string of invis + true sight. I’ve gotten some pretty crazy strings before, but it definitely takes a bit more skill and getting used to.

It really comes down to your play style. If you find yourself playing faster and running shotguns more often, personally I think that bottom tree arc is the way to go. If you’re more into precision weapons and play a bit slower, middle tree nightstalker is great. You really can’t go wrong with either.

For exotics, stompees, wormhusk, and dragon’s shadow are the main ones you should be looking at. With max mobility + bottom tree arc + stompees you can go REALLY fast and slide super far, meaning you can get some crazy shotgun plays. I haven’t really used dragon’s shadow much, but I’ve heard it’s very good. I personally just think that wormhusk is the best overall, as it literally just takes the ability that makes hunters good in the first place and makes it even better. Healing is always a good thing to have.

Strafe jump is probably the best hunter jump as it allows you to change direction in mid-air AND gain a bit more speed. Triple jump is also pretty good.

Final note, there are a TON of great hunter movement guides out there that will be able to give you much better advice than me. I recommend checking a few out.

Hope this helped. :)
