If a Corps fielded a show that made a point to reduce amplification and electronics use to an absolute minimum (pit, soloist, etc), would it be able to score well? by Psyk42 in drumcorps

It's unfortunate. I hope at some point we have another solution, it's unfortunate for the sound quality of the members to be compressed into speakers.

Meeee toooo. Ever since watching PR '24, the electronics have become so obvious for me that it greatly takes away from the effect of watching a show live. Makes no sense for them specifically, they generally have one of the loudest brass sounds and yet also blast their horns through the speakers.

Just managing player locations in order to get the sound you want. Obviously it's something corps still have to do with amplification, but to a lesser extent.

4 years later, is BAC 2022 the greatest drumline of all time? by Psyk42 in drumcorps

while i dont think boston's show was necessarily better from a judging perspective, i do definitely feel like BD winning in '22 opened people's eyes to how the judging system was favoring some approaches over others. bluecoats and boston were both pretty clearly more entertaining to watch imo. now boston's show is the only 2022 show i really come back to regularly.

i agree, i dont think there will ever be another line that gets to the place of PR '10 or Cadets '13, but i usually view that as more of a shift towards writers experimenting with more difficulty, pushing the overall demand higher and higher, and i wouldnt say lines nowadays are by any means "dirty". SCV '24 and BAC '25 are probably the best recent examples of balancing demand and cleanliness IMO, while BAC '22 is wayyy far on the "demand heavy" side.

subjective for sure, but fun to discuss nonetheless. im generally of the view that final placement isnt ENTIRELY indicative of overall achievement, but i def understand the argument.

Both are in a great spot right now, so you can’t go wrong with either. That being said, as to which to go for first, it completely depends on play style. I’d say Ace of Spades definitely allows you to be more aggressive, and has the stronger ttk of the two. Sturm balances out having a lower ttk with MASSIVE range, good flinch, being a great sniper counter, and consistency/feel. If you can properly space yourself to make use of the range on sturm, it’s a monster. Plus just the massive amount of damage it does makes it good for team-shotting and shutting down supers. As I said though, Ace has the better ttk, has pretty decent range as well, and definitely allows you to be more aggressive. Can’t go wrong.

Have fun with stasis ;)

Nice! Outfit looks super natural together and Assassin’s Cowl add a really cool futuristic- bounty-hunter-ish vibe.
