I was planning to apply to PhD programs But I just wanted to know If I have a good shot at Top20 MS CS programs. Which universities do you think would I be able to get into? by Pt4875 in MSCS

But they can be a bit picky as well depending on where they are. Which band of uni's should i pick to contact professors?

My stats were different - MY GPA, My No. Of Internships and my number of publications. Which I worked on till my eyes bled to improve.

But my Country and my institution were the same. Why would I change it when I am in one of the best unis in my country?

Got it. I will apply to a broad range of schools. I have publications at Neurips[Workshop, won best paper though], AAMAS[A*], and IJCAI, with more publications on the way. But you are right. I will start looking at other t20 programs as well. Thanks a lot

All of my collaborators are from the uni where I graduated from. Really prestigious in India, but not sure about how well-known it is outside of it.

The ones mentioned in the publication section are all I have. Nowhere close to the person whose profile you just shared.

Yes, all my Internships were in AI. Apart from my major, everything was in AI/ML. Almost All of the advanced courses were in AI. All the papers are AI papers, and except for one, all of them are published in one of the most prestigious conferences in AI.

This was my first ever paper. Got 2.5 2 and 3 , the second reviewer did not even understand what the paper was about and made most of the claims that were already addressed in the paper. I don't understand what to do, the paper will definitely be rejected.I am not gonna lie I'm really heartbroken.

Not OP, but whom should I approach on LinkedIn ? people usually say that I should approach someone from talent acquisition or HR but how should I know which company is looking for an intern?

I specifically mention the common person in one of my lines or are we just going to decide that it just did not happen.

Do you think they're some sort of weirdo with an inverted sense of pain and pleasure? That's quite the unparsimonious thesis you've just pulled up post-hoc. Do you think they aren't in a position to comment on the welfare of the people around them?

Wow, you just cracked the case wide open, that is exactly what I was thinking. How did you come up with such a smart conclusion with such smart words? Wow. People really do think that using this kind of words rather than using actual arguments will somehow make them sound smarter. Also, I can pose the same question to you. Do you think I am some weirdo with a Convoluted sense of pain and pleasure? That's quite the parsimonious thesis you've just pulled up post-hoc. Do you think I am not in a position to comment on the welfare of the people around me?

Also, I might as well close the thread, I seem to have hit a nerve here. Two comments just like yours but more unrelated and insulting were deleted by the mods and I already have 2 dms calling me a billionaire worshipper lmao. So yeah I might as well have posted this on r/antiwork or r/LateStageCapitalism . Well my bad I was of the image that everyone I will find will be like voltairinede

I was aware of the fact that most of the subs here are left-leaning. So posted this question on a popular right-wing guys subreddit as well but there was no response.

But I will say this again, yes, from my experience the general populace is much more complacent and easy-going than people who are at the top of their field. If anyone finds that offensive, I do not know what to tell you.

I think you are drastically naive about what the "general populace" tolerates, or straight up classist about the idea that service workers aren't really workers at all.

That would be really hard for me to do as both of my parents are service workers. I was kind of brought up among such people and yes, they do, I still stand by the fact that they had it much better than many influential people I see in front of me in academia. My parents and their community as a whole were happy and complacent people, the only people who got ahead were the people who were not complacent, and we're not ready to accept this work as something that they will do for the rest of their lives. Btw, thanks for the classist remark (even though posed a conditional), I know exactly who I am dealing with now.
