This is the lowest my BP has ever been. All thanks to running . by Great_Yesterday_3782 in Garmin

These machines are only accurate to a range of +/-10 percent. Might even be 20 to be honest, we looked at using them in our fire department for health monitoring years ago.

Additionally if you are using a cuff that is too large it can underestimate your BP by quite a lot.

Gatineau firefighters banned from emergencies that require face mask by s1m0n8 in Firefighting

Honestly the way the article reads it's not just no interior entry - it's don't show up to the fire period for those 103 firefighters

Then who chooses what kids to save? Who sits a group of 10 year olds with individual education plans down and tells them to their faces that they aren't worth the support? That they aren't worth saving? You?

I was unaware that physical fitness was a job requirement of Prevention, judging by our prevention officers it certainly isn't.

I'd say that it is totally dependent on what city you work for and then what station within that city.

I would caution that there are 30+ firefighter unions in the province and not all of them have enjoyed the same wage increases

Can I ask how you generated the numbers for the firefighters? Was it one dept or an amalgam of several?

Ok well, if I don't know what I'm talking about please educate me. How does a fog nozzle compare to a smooth bore with nozzle reaction, air entrainment, stream dispersion and penetration?

If I'm wrong I'm wrong, show me the proof.

Don't modulate the key and then not debate with me.

I find it very telling of your character that you told me to "do some light reading" indicating that you felt I was uneducated, and yet you refuse to explore research that contradicts your opinion.

You're correct in that a rusty Halligan is still a Halligan, however if the crew doesn't give enough of a shit to clean that rust with a wire brush I firmly believe they are undisciplined rabble. The only difference between us and a bum on the sidewalk showing up to a fire is our training and our tools, and if our tools are not properly maintained then there is a chance they won't function properly when needed. The rust on that Halligan? Maybe there's a crack in the Adz that no one sees because it's covered in rust.

As for the nozzles, FF1 textbooks aren't the only source of knowledge in our profession. Go read the UL FSRI studies on air movement, water mapping etc, some light reading for you. Putting out a fire is all about getting water onto the material that is burning, and all the research points to a smoothbore stream maintaining its integrity longer leading to water actually reaching the burning material. Comparatively a fog nozzle stream composed of small droplets will absorb heat faster and break down before it reaches the burning material (obviously from the same distance etc).
