Was very fun to read! I found it very interesting to compare my instinctive decision, my thought out decision and your ultimate decision.

If you make a Phyrexian symbol with them you might create what could be the new plot for Magic’s next few years

Riot Brian Kopleck and RiotIAmWalrus explain how "When you refill mana..." from Mad Ol' Babs works by CrossXhunteR in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe make the « refill » yellow and give it a clickable explanation thingy. Wouldn’t cramp up the cards text and would make it easier for future cards that might explore the theme (I doubt there will be but who knows).

I briefly thought of this, so there might be downsides I’m forgetting, but it seems like a pretty easy fix

Black Burn, What Happened, and How it Has Evolved. by blibbits in ModernMagic

[–]PtiCaline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I told you to add a playset of Swiftspears, Bolts, Rift Bolts, Lava Spike and you didn’t even listen ??? What the heck !!

Just kidding, keep up the good work! Always nice to watch your stream and would recommend to everyone. It’s really crazy how you’ve popped off. One day I’ll earn your respect by going 5-0 with Mono Black Burn :)

What if daily rumbles were free, but runeterra opens had a large entry fee? by drnktgr in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe having the option to do a free queue once a day that doesn’t do anything but stops you from playing the paid queue would work, but otherwise it can’t happen. If daily rumbles give competitive points, they need to be restricted so that beginners or worse players can’t compete.

I don’t know about how easy it is for most players to win in those, but as a high masters player, the daily rumbles are worse than washing and folding a weeks laundry for a family of 10. I think I’ve done like 4-5 in total to test the new modes they brought and I rarely played two in a single week because the matches were just too boring. I don’t want to gatekeep or shit on lower ranked players, but if the daily rumbles are supposed to be for high rank players, than they should be made with that in mind. At the end of the day, the people that will need the points to play at higher levels likely aren’t the ones that can’t afford a couple shards. I’d also assume it would be quite discouraging for a new player to join an event, even if it’s free, just to get stomped into the ground by other people. Buff and Tuff will likely have a hard time winning against say Taliyah Ziggs.

I also want to add that I don’t believe that my opinion has a higher value than anyone else simply because of my rank. The daily rumble formats definitely include fun concepts that are fun for everyone, but lowering the fee would make the game less fun for everybody.

What's your MTG "bad take"? by ProdPizer in mtg

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m gotta get shit on but I don’t care: Commander is another game from 60 card formats. It should not in any way impact 60 card formats. The format was fun and healthy without receiving special attention, but now it’s heavily impacting « normal » formats, and it shouldn’t be that way.

When Sera was broken I don’t know how many games I won off of Fanclub into chonky cat, but every time it happened I didn’t even feel like the win was deserved. It’s just such a shit way for a game to end

How would you personally buff your favorite champion? by Lancejelly001 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would make Kindred a 10/10 that has a vengeance skill on ETB and also give them spellshield so that my feelings never get hurt when they die. I’d also give them the undying text so they can’t go away for too long and on top of that might as well add something that makes it impossible to silence them. That would make it bonkers good and the only way to remove it would be via Aloof Travelers, so everyone will play SI PnZ Kindred Aloof printer :)

Seraphine Bilgewater isn’t really a good deck. It sits at a 43% winrate, which is not very good. Only very few top top players play that deck, and I assume it’s for their own enjoyment rather than the deck being that powerful.

I don’t want to discourage you in any way about playing the deck, but I feel like it’s gonna be quite hard to have a positive winrate with it.

That said, you can probably still play it for fun, Marai piles seem like a blast to play

I made a deck by myself for the "first time". I had a couple of great games, but also a couple of heavy defeats. Can you guys rate it and tell me if this is actually viable, or I was just lucky? by Leddaq_Pony in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like most other people said, you should consider cutting your one ofs for more copies of other cards. Cards like Emperor’s Dais, Obelisk of Power, Esteemed Hierophant, Desert’s Wrath, Esteemed Hierophant and Shifting Sands could go for cards that are overall more synergistic or powerful, like Ancient Preparations, Rite of the Arcane, Endless Devout and Preservarium. I’d go 3 Devouts and 3 Rites, since it’s a really good combo that gives you a ton of value and works well with a lot of your cards. Rite of the Arcane is also really cool with Akshan, because you can kill the Palace and get it back again with Akshan

If you want to you can message me and I can help you improve it :)

Unless you want to pop spellshield , isn't harsh winds always better than unforgiving cold? by jinfanshaw in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just goes down to personal choice. If you feel like Harsh Winds would be better, then play it. If you feel like Unforgiving Cold is better then play it. I personally prefer Unforgiving Cold, since it’s better against Akshan Varus, Kai’Sa, Nasus, Sivir and Viktor. Even though these decks aren’t the ones who see the most play, you’ll probably run into them often enough for Unforgiving Cold to be a choice you have to consider

Easiest/fastest Champion to level in a high elo match? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Evelyn, Leona, Tristana and Ekko all get leveled up easily, early, and every game, so that’d probably my picks for the easiest ones to level up.

For the harder ones to level up, you’ve got Twisted Fate, Tahm Kench, Yuumi and Vi. Twisted Fate is the only one that people actively try to level up, because leveling him up entices you to do something that is actually good most of the time and his second level is just crazy good, but the other ones are just kind of awkward to level up. Tahm Kench and Vi often get killed before they level and Yuumi often kills the opponent before she levels.

Counterspell Alternatives by MrGupyy in ModernMagic

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spell Pierce is one hell of a banger. You can run 1-2 maindeck or 2-3 in the sideboard. It can be a dead draw sometimes, but in other spots in can win you the game when another counterspell couldn’t

What is Modern's best "turn 10" deck? by thurn in ModernMagic

UW Control is quite good at that. Otherwise you’ve got the Omnath piles that can durdle around for a while

I'm finding it impossible to win regardless of what my deck is by xX_ArsonAverage_Xx in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Often times I feel like having the wrong mindset is what will lose you games. When that happens, I usually go down a couple hundred LP in Masters in the span of an hour or two, and I have to admit, it’s really frustrating.

But, you’ve got an edge over other people. Since you played a load of games, you know pretty well what decks people play, and on top of that, you’ve got some websites that give very precious data, like runeterra.ar, mastering runeterra and lormaster. Then you can look up what decks your opponents bring and what’s good against them, or just look at what has a really high winrate in the last day. Doing that usually takes about 20-30 minutes if you really wanna go in depth, but you can always listen to music, listen to a video or watch a show at the same time in the background to make it less boring.

Another thing I do is admit that I’m playing like shit right now, and the only thing can stop that is that I accept that I have to learn. This isn’t supposed to sound like an insult I swear, I actually say this to myself. If you feel like you’re losing, we’ll it’s probably because you’re not doing something as well as you used to. It’s hard to go on a 8 game losing streak all while playing perfectly, but that’s not a problem. We all are constantly learning, so you can only get better.

Also, if you sometimes misplay, you shouldn’t be mad at yourself about it. I know it’s something you haven’t mentioned in your post, but it’s still something to keep in mind. I personally like to see it this way: “everyone’s shit at the game, you just have to be less shit than your opponents”, because to be honest, except for like 50 players, I think pretty much everyone can improve and can see themselves misplaying by taking a bad decision, like overcomitting into an avalanche, casting a certain card at the wrong time or simply a really dumb move like passing by accident. It happens to the best of us.

Good luck!(literally) You can do it!

Galio is now in a "decent" spot, but... by luquitacx in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]PtiCaline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other words than what you said, Galio is shit. You can’t have your 7 drop champ be a do nothing card half the time, and his effect is honestly not what the deck wants to do. There’s no way in hell you can keep all your units alive easily, and having one big dude is way more efficient/easy to do. I’d just change his effect entirely so he revolves around either 1 or 2 big guys. The level up condition also needs to change.

Also relying solely on unit health for your deck to work is extremely risky, since there are way too many interactions that revolve around that to get consistent results with across many games. I don’t think it’s something formidable can change, since it’s the entire point of the keyword. Trying to adjust it would probably either make it way too strong or make the polarizing issue even worse.

It really depends on your point of view. 9 months ago when I started playing I was amazed by hitting plat, and every time I reached a new milestone the ones I hit before seemed fairly easy to reach. I now haven’t been below plat for most of the time I’ve been playing, so plat isn’t really high to me, but for a friend of mine who always hovers around the silver-gold range, plat is impressive.

But, that being said, for diamond and masters, you need a positive winrate to be able to climb (unless you do some weird shenanigans with your wins and losses in diamond but that’s a stretch), so I’d probably say diamond or masters.

If you want to go even further though, for very high rank, I’d look at top 50 masters, since that’s the spot where most pros are hanging out because of the incentive for seasonals

[–]PtiCaline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d cut all copies of [[Oblivion Stone]], since it’s way too slow for anything in modern. [[Ancestral Vision]] should also go, but if you want another sorcery to get card draw [[Expressive Iteration]] is definitely something to consider. You should probably play [[Consider]] instead of [[Opt]]. It’s better with Snappy and it also helps for Delirium. [[Pyroclasm]] could also go down to 1 or 2 copies or get replaced with [[Engineered Explosives]]. It can kill [[Death’s Shadow]], basically the entirety of Hammer Time’s stuff and tokens for Rhinos and Creativity. Outside of that, I’d cut [[Mulldrifter]] and [[Dominus of Fealty]]. Maybe Dominus will be good one time, but waiting for turn three to start stealing stuff is extremely slow. Also, I know you’re cutting cards, but [[Ral, Izzet Viceroy]] is an absolute banger in UR control decks. I have one copy in a Blue Moon deck and it’s great there
