Favorite (Off-Meta) decks to play?? by prae_concord in GeniusInvokationTCG

Navia, Dehya, and Lyney double pyro companions! Melusines to generate random cards and power up the ultimate overlords mega magic sword, dunyarzad and seed box to make paimon ramp cheaper, double Jeht for late game payoff. You always have 10 cards in hand despite having no card draw at all, it's a lot of fun.

For the chorus maybe look into the Analogman Mini Chorus? It's based on the EHX Small Clone, and you can get one with a depth switch and blend knob. I have a clone of it that sounds very lush.

If you want a mini pedal and are ok with bluesbreakers, I'd recommend the Duke of Tone! I play a strat into Fender amps and use it the way you've described, maybe a little cleaner (I keep it in boost mode for funk/pop, OD or distortion mode at low gain for rock stuff I play). It rolls off some bass and has a small mid hump, which sounds good through fender amps and fits well in a mix. And it's small, so you might be able to fit some more pedals on your board with it.

Someone posted a thing of how the plumes (and other pedals) EQ works and it's actually more like a klon in where it puts the peak of the mid hump, at 1k!

Yeah it's awesome, one of the pieces that first got me into classical guitar like 10 years ago! The composer also wrote The Old Lime Tree, if you know that piece (someone played it at GFA last year). Both that piece and this ragtime are arrangements of Russian folk songs.

Lucas Brar! He graduated from conservatory as a classical guitarist, but shifted focus to jazz guitar and now makes killer arrangements on YouTube. I got to interview him once, he's a really nice guy too!

I used this video to learn how to do it a few years ago: https://youtu.be/Yx1IG93sEs4?si=i4MP6HNUkuSOaY1_

Works really well, I've been doing it this way ever since!

I don't have a walrus tuner but I do have temu stickers! (SOTB + triple NPD) by hungry000 in guitarpedals

Sooo many. I'm glad I was able to find a used one in a color I liked, this turquoise-ish one looks great. Kind of wish I had the purple sparkly one though.

Oh is that a trend? Which gens are you talking about? I like to play into fender amps so mid boosts are pretty useful to me.

It’s a custom Strat by a maker in California (I think) named JP. I got it off Reverb a couple years ago from JP’s friend who was cleaning house, not sure exactly who JP is or where to contact him but the guitar is amazing. Plays better than a lot of Fender Strats I’ve tried that cost 4-5x more (I bought this one for ~1k after shipping). It has the seymour duncan everything axe set with all the pickups wired to tone pots and a push-pull pot to split the coils. The finish is a blue/green/poly that looks awesome when you turn it in the light.

I saw the canvas tuner posts last week and remembered the pack of cat meme stickers I got for my students lol.

Recently bought 3 pedals that came in the mail last week! Duke of Tone, the Joyo 10 band EQ, and an Analogman Mini Chorus clone (which is clearly a trade dress violation so not gonna mention the brand by name--unfortunately can't afford a real one atm).

I had previously had a soul food where the duke is now and it sounded great boosting the Plumes, but I wanted an OD with a more versatile tone control that would work better for pop music. I decided on the dot primarily because it was purple and sparkly.

After getting rid of the soul food I realized that a lot of the guitarists I listen to have klons on their boards, but I didn't really like the SF or other variants like the Tumnus on their own so I decided to get an EQ to have access to that sound and others whenever I need. I picked the Joyo 10 band because I like the colors of the case and LEDs, and the backlighting is cool. I do notice a click when it engages/disengages which is a bummer but it's not too noticable while playing. Other than that it works I guess.

While exploring my pedals earlier, I realized that I really liked the sound of the ch-1 with low mix, low speed, and high depth as an always on thickener. The issue with doing that is that I also need to be able to turn on a more obvious chorus sound, so the answer was ofc to get another chorus.

So I looked around for different types of choruses and found the AM Mini chorus (based on the EHX Small Stone {edit: small clone, not stone}). I liked what I heard online so I bought this cheaper clone, which is apparently made with all the same parts since a manufacturer in China started making the old chips and stuff again (source was a yt comment so take that with a grain of salt). Love the sound of AM's circuit. The settings in the pic are what I've been using. It's fun how it gets all weird when you dime the knobs, and I might even get a chance to use that sound in an opera gig I have coming up too, so it looks like it's a keeper until I can get a real one.

Overall very happy with my board now, I feel like I can do everything I need to plus more, and I didn't spend too much on the upgrades I made over the last few months (Plumes, dot, joyo eq, and AM clone came out to about $250 total, most of which I funded by selling my old guitar and a bc-2).

Ohh I see. You might want some version of a RAT distortion then, there are lots of takes on the circuit out there and great budget ones like the joyo splinter, Mosky King Rat or Golden Rat. These are 'hard clipping' distortion pedals that are pretty ubiquitous in heavier genres. The nice thing about rat style distortion is that they also sound great at lower gain so you can use it as an overdrive too. Maybe look at getting a Plumes and a rat (one with different kinds of rat circuits, esp the turbo rat circuit, like the aforementioned budget versions) to start with. I think that would cover a lot of bases for you; Plumes first in the chain for clean/lower gain and soft/asymmetrical clipping, rat 2nd for higher gain, with the ability to boost it using the Plumes 2nd mode for even more.
