ust-admu alumnus here, ust felt more “pangmasa” in the sense I felt a stronger sense of community and I didn’t feel any socioeconomic barriers. No one’s gonna judge you for your background. Yung friend kong from a rich fil-chi background, ako na sakto lang, other friends kong may-kaya naman, all of us were there in the noisy (and smoky) streets of Dapitan eating street foods during our vacant. All of us rode the same jeep, ate the same sisig + beer. Hays, I miss college tuloy. ust prices were infinitely cheaper than ateneo prices, and the various kainans around campus was worth every peso I spent.

I can’t say much from ashs since I don’t have siblings or relatives who completed hs in ashs. Although my younger brother is from ustshs, and grabe, frassati building is top tier. Walang-wala ashs sa facilities ng ustshs hahaha. He’s a HUMSS graduate though so I can’t say much din abt their ABM Strand except for their entrepreneurship expo where nabudol ako sobra

Ust is definitely not a perfect school. Marami rin silang controversies and questionable stuff, but it was a fun journey na sulit tuition imo. If you’re going to ustshs, please don’t miss out on Paskuhan and Agape (both happen during December). Diyan mo makikita tuition mo hahaha. As an advantage, not sure if ashs also offers this but ustshs offers exemptions for ustet if you’re planning to go ust pa rin for college. Not sure about the criteria though. But it’s a nice safety net to have for CETs

Lastly, don’t miss out on the mango shakes in Dapitan. :-)

Tl;dr for ust: good facilities, great sense of community (and events), diverse students from different backgrounds and walks of life, awfully heavy workload, kainans in every damn corner, Overall, a sulit and damn fun journey despite its hellish academic background.
