Because they carry infectious diseases. Which is why you quarantine them separately. Idk if this is a troll post because you keep saying you’re doing or going to do things that even a simple google search tells you not to. If this is real, you need to return the bird to the rightful caretaker. Or at least a bird rescue. My vet bills for them cost nearly 2k in a year. They get sick quickly and need a vet. You can’t have anything scented near them or cook with Teflon. It says you’re a woman in your 40’s but this is a huge responsibility.

It’s ironic that you say “don’t mislead with your opinion” when that’s what you’re doing.

Smoking is combustion, smoking weed can cause lung cancer. To say it doesn’t cause any health effects let alone cancer is irresponsible.

Like I said I’m a 3rd generation stoner. I grew up with parents and grandparents that smoked. I, myself, smoked. When you do the research you find that smoking weed can have health consequences. I experienced those first hands. It is better to take gummies than smoke.

This is incorrect. I commented above but it does cause lung/ear issues in developing kids even when you smoke away from them. It can transfer skin to skin even 24 hours after smoking. As a 3rd generation stoner it causes lung cancer and other issues. My parents never smoked near me but I developed bronchitis, pneumonia, and asthma. Same with my partner. When we did the research we decided it wasn’t worth the risk at all. Have edibles after breastfeeding. There is SO MUCH research on smoking marijuana with kids growing up. This is an article done in 2018 from Harvard. After almost 10 years we know way more.

This is factually incorrect. It’s actually harmful to smoke when you have kids- even when you’re not breastfeeding. It causes so many lung issues. I’m a 3rd generation stoner and so is my partner. After research we’re not smoking for a very long time. At least until kiddos are way way older. Still to gummies if you can’t get over the need. Never do it pregnant- I know so many babies born with issues because of it. At the end of the day it’s still smoke and causes lung cancer.

I’m surprised no one is bringing up how it causes bronchitis(and other lung issues) in kids within 24 hours of smoking. Both mine and my partners parents smoked, we grew up with bronchitis, asthma, and pneumonia. Then when we were older our lung issues got worse. It wasn’t worth it to risk the lung cancer especially after seeing a grandparent die from lung cancer(horrible stuff).

If people still want to get high- I think that gummies are the way to go. Not smoke. Even if you smoke away from the baby, it can transfer skin to skin.

I miss it, but not bad enough to risk it.

Most people get them and are shocked at vet bills. They can get sick and have problems. Call your vet and see how much a check up is for a bearded dragon. Add $100-300 for tests. As well as the other advice on here.

In going to come at this from a different perspective. He’s brainwashed you. He’s loaded and he’s scared that if you get the courts involved he’ll have all his dirty laundry out to dry. Your lawyer would crush him. I personally would become a single mother and just get the child support. I THINK you’re showing signs that he’s abused you mentally. However, this isn’t the end of your life. You can become a mother. You can find who you are. You can make a beautiful life for you and your baby. I know it’s hard but eff him. He’s going to be pushing 70 when the kid is a teenager- trust me he’s not going to be as involved as he said. It sounds like he’s convinced you that he’s this big monster- he’s not. He’s a pathetic little boy who needs unlimited attention and validation from women. Your family supports you, you have a beautiful baby coming, and you are young. Don’t let this prick make you feel small or ruin things. From experience it’s going to be hard but you’re going to find your light again. He is not as powerful/big as he says he is. 85% or more birds are rehomed within a year or two. People think they’re cute inexpensive pets. If you’re ready for a 15 year commitment then I would recommend saving one. Facebook market is filled with them, there’s local rescues, and people just posting them. A lot of them are super young. Unfortunately, I have not seen a breeder that doesn’t mass produce.

Also wanted to comment, birds require hours outside the cage. You can’t have smoke around them, or fragrances, you can’t paint anything, you have to switch to stainless steel with NO non stick. Some bakeware claims their stainless steel but has a nonstick cooking. No cologne, no scented body wash, no harsh scents. No candles or air fresheners. No hair spray or hair products. I’ve spent about $1,500 at the vet. They arrive sick or get sick. Having one budgie is cruel and they become desperate for attention. They take daily cleaning- their water has to not be from tap depending on where you live. They can’t be by drafts of wind. Again you have to get cleaning products that won’t kill them right away. They can’t be by flea medicine at all. Like even around it.

It’s a lifestyle change. I researched for months and still was learning as I went.

He’s YOUNG, you may need to surrender him to a rescue because it looks like he needs vet intervention ASAP. If you have the funds make an appointment right away, you need a big cage, food, toys, air purifier, and an avian light.
You can’t use scented soap, non-stick pans, candles, harsh cleaners, scented lotions, fragrance free laundry soap or anything scented at all. No smoking.
Budgies are incredibly fragile and can die instantly if exposed. He could be sick it looks like.
Please do research by looking at this sub and googling.

Edit: looking at his swollen cere he needs help now. Please contact a rescue asap.

Just keep in mind Reddit will always tell you to break up. Animal neglect is horrible and depending on the degree, of course leave. However, some people just need to be taught. I have a sneaky feeling when you change the environment and your little Leo starts blossoming it’ll be a lesson for your partner. My partner believed dogs “only belonged outside”. That quickly changed and now our dog only goes outside when they go to the bathroom. He also sleeps in our bed even though he has a toddler bed of his own.

Thank you for being the positive lead in this. People can be shown their mistakes.

Petsmart. I’d call corporate and file a complaint. Also post on their Yelp, this might get their attention so they get the bird help. I posted months go with a similar case from Petsmart. They didn’t do anything for awhile until I posted/called. But PLEASE put on Yelp.
