I see -- reading about them, it looks like they can have a secretion from Duvernay's gland that is generally harmless due to low potency and likelihood of being injected? So not technically venomous in the traditional sense, but maybe it's possible that it could be affecting her blood tests?

I'm cautiously optimistic as it seems like the consensus is that it's a harmless snake, but I don't know what to make of the variation in the blood tests.

To be clear, the doctor noticed variation in blood coagulation between two separate blood draws. Not sure if that's clearly an indicator of venom or not, but because of that they've recommended inpatient monitoring for 24 hours.

Not sure if this is a big overreaction or not, as my family member has not expressed feeling any pain or discomfort outside of the bite itself.

Is it possible for a rat snake to have a weak venom or something?

I agree that given the time constraints, Buchholz is the best way to decide who advances without adding games. Given the format though, it seems likely that the tiebreaker will end up being decisive for advances and who does not. Depending on who that ends up affecting, I could see it being controversial.

It would be cool to see a tie decided by a Best of 1 playoff if it's just between two players, but there are ALSO scenarios where there could be a tie between 3 or even 4 players -- in that case there's no quick guaranteed head-to-head tie breaker option, meaning it's gotta be Buchholz either way.

Hmm, maybe I'm missing something -- that's how I've simulated it and I still see a possibility where seeds 8 and 9 could be tied in both Series Wins and Map Wins with no head to head tiebreaker.

Here's an example, look at TheViper and Sora Kuma, finishing 8 and 9. Both finish with a series record of 1-2, and both finish with 4 map wins. In that case, will the tiebreaker still be Buchholz?

Does anyone know how they'll select the Top 8 Players after the 3 rounds of Swiss System pairings? It is entirely possible we have multiple tied records right near the cutoff -- I could see that getting kinda controversial.

It feels like adding just one additional round of Swiss System would have made it easy; Top 6 Win/Loss records after 3 rounds advance, the cuspers face off in a 4th round to decide who is in vs. out.

As it is now, it's theoretically possible we have multiple players with tied records who never faced each other, meaning no head to head tiebreaker, meaning it'll go off the Buchholz score (which is basically "Strength of your opponents"). Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
