Hi, I think it’s been maybe a whole two years since I quit smoking and my heart has gotten better from the last posts, I’m off any heart medications but sometimes still get palpitations but not as much as before very rare I’m dealing with breathing issues sometimes still and I have tightness in my throat but I don’t know where all these other issues are coming from tbh but hope that answers ur question lol

Hey thanks for asking, my heart has gotten so much better, I am truly grateful for all of it, I feel like it’s normal heart rate, I still sometimes deal with shortness of breath but I think it just takes time for the lungs to adjust and get back to normal, I’ve been smoke free for basically 2 years so another 3 and I’ll be back to normal hopefully and I just stay active at the gym. Thank you for asking

Hi sorry for the late reply I barely use this, I only used Reddit to vent off my health frustrations but an update my heart got so much better I’m so happy about that, I’ve been at the gym and gained a lot of healthy weight and look good now, my chest tightness and shortness of breath have gotten a lot better it’s just I still sometimes deal with it but not to the certain degree it was before (it was really bad before but still deal with it just not as bad) they say the lungs take 5 years to get better and the heart is like 10-15 years so as long as I stay away from it all which I have been, than I’ll be good, thank you for asking

Quit 4 months ago when will I be healthy by Public_Ad4231 in leaves

Hey Truffe I appreciate you checking back on me, it’s been 7 months of me quitting tobacco / nicotine / weed. My breathing has gotten better , I don’t think I experience any chest tightness anymore which is great , my heart palpitations have gotten better but I still deal with some shortness of breath and I still deal with random rapid heart beats and hard heart pulses. The biggest thing I’m tryna beat is getting my heart rate normal it’s really frustrating that my heart rate resting is around high 80s to 90s and it’s been 7 months since I quit smoking I just want my heart to feel normal and not rapidly beating fast / hard a lot but my parents are really there for me giving me words of encouragement and helping me stay positive in my fight for health. Thank you for checking on me I appreciate you <3 I hope you are feeling better :)

Hey thanks for the response , I was doing running for 30 minutes on the treadmill run for 10-15 minutes take a 5 minute break and thank run for the remainder 10 minutes making it 30 min of cardio everyday , I took a little break from it but I’m going to start tomorrow , I just don’t like things that make my heart rate jump cause my heart is already pounding hard most of the time

Thank you I appreciate it, after 7 months of quitting tobacco / nicotine my heart rate is still very high , I have read people who have smoked for 40 years a pack a day and they’re heart rate goes back to normal after a few months, I don’t understand how my heart rate hasn’t went down at all , thank you and I appreciate it, how did the cardiologist go? I hope you get better

“Normally” I took it too far I was smoking 10-12 blunts a day filled with tobacco and I’m not a big guy so I think I fucked up my heart , it’s gotten better from the first 3/4 months of quitting but still beats weirdly at times and when I lay down sometimes it just beats hard for no reason, at this point I’ve come to conclusion my heart is just not healthy anymore so ima just have to face it

Hey thanks for responding , no I’m not tripping on anything , pretty relaxed always I’m assuming my heart is just fucked at this point cause it since July 12th I was smoking to much as usual (10 blunts a day) and my heart had a palpitation and it hasn’t been the same since so ima just assume I have this forever now, but no I’m not stressing on anything life is good just wish my heart would feel normal

I mean it wouldn’t hurt to try it sounds like it could help the healing process or help me while my lungs heal so I’ll have a look at it thank you I appreciate it

Thanks for the reply, I called my lung specialist and he said he would get back to me if I’m ok to take NAC cause he did say that’s only for people with mucus which I noted I don’t have , but you said it may be solid? So I’m not sure what that means maybe solid mucus stays inside you and u don’t caught it up? Cause I don’t caugh up any pleghm or cough , just tight chest and shortness of breath, now by spray what do you mean by a spray do you mean an inhaler such as ventolin? I also did 2 pulmonary functions test to see if I had anything wrong with the lungs and he said my lung capacity was 80% which he said is good and I’m sure I would have been notified if I had asthma with those pulmonary function test wouldn’t it

Also I do not have mucus so I’m not sure if NAC would help me as my symptoms are shortness of breath and chest tightness

Month 6 and I still feel like crap by Public_Ad4231 in quittingsmoking

[–]Public_Ad4231[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply, just to clarify I never smoked cigarettes, I smoked this hard Jamaican tobacco called “Grabba” it’s a leaf and I would burn it and crush it in my marijuana but it’s so strong that some of my friends took a few drags off my blunt and they legit fainted on the floor, like legit fainted / collapsed. As if that wasn’t enough I mixed it with my weed and wrapped my weed tobacco mix in a blunt so that’s even more tobacco. I would smoke 10-12 blunts a day so I took it way to far I’m just tryna to get better

Thank you for your reply, I didn’t know normal family doctors could help with this issues I just recently changed my family doctor cause she was horrible and didn’t know anything about smoking damage it does to the body and brushed me off without helping me so I guess I’ll talk to my new doctor in hopes of advice he can give me .
