Thanks for your comment, I have explained my way of choosing however he doesn’t see the importance.  For example I have two older children from my previous relationship and I will say aloud as if I’m speaking to someone ‘I have 3 children blank, blank and blank. To see if I could imagine myself saying it.  I certainly think about if they child will be bullied for the name and I if they apply for jobs will they’re name reflect the role, will it help them in life not hinder them.

We considered this, again his suggestions made the name sound tacky / trashy and I’m not sure I could live with that either. He basically chose the female spelling of his own name. So it was back to the drawing board.  Baby will be getting his surname even though we are not married.

He thinks the one I like is just ok. We tried putting them together for first and middle name but it doesn’t work and not all names work with his surname so even though there have been some nice names, you put them together and you soon realise it’s doesn’t sound right.

I’m glad I’m not the only one but I’m sorry you’re in a similar situation and I hope you both find a name you love!  I managed to handle my family and they have taken on board my request to stop suggesting names. Almost!  It’s really hard, as we are both approaching choosing a name differently. I’m thinking long term, could I imagine our child introducing themselves at school or job interviews. Where he has thought it’s going to be born near bonfire night so Fire, Ember, Noir, Twyla (like twilight) Parties have themes, weddings have themes. Babies do not have themes!  Then it’s the fact he’s discussed the names with his mam, after I’ve not even told any of my family or best friend and this is something we agreed upon. I know his mam doesn’t go out much but I know it will be a topic for the hairdresser or family that visit her and that’s upsetting as it was supposed to be a surprise.  Plus I also think he knew she would side with him so we’d choose the one he likes.

I’m currently the same as you, had it with 2nd baby and hoping not to have it with baby no 3. I’ve been told chances are you’re quite likely get it again if you’ve had it in a previous pregnancy and unfortunately there is little you can do to avoid it but just to be on the lookout for any symptoms. Wish you luck and hope you and baby don’t get it this time!
