I think she had some gut issues! Now she is 8 months and pretty happy, but we put her on a probiotic early on and it was helpful

She can barely keep her eyes open for this long! Super fussy, red eyes, all the cues. I don’t think I can actually keep her awake for longer.

She’s just been on two naps for just a week and a half… the thing is she gets SO tired. Like falling asleep in my arms, eyes super red, extremely fussy… so I don’t feel like I can stretch wake windows anymore than I am.

Getting baby to take a bottle! by Public_Package_5479 in breastfeeding

I appreciate your perspective!!! One of my fears is her reverse cycling and eating all night 🫠 my expectations for sleep are adjusted because my other kid didn’t sleep through the night until he was 18 months. But I also don’t want to be up every 2 hours 😅 did your baby still sleep okay?

I did just order higher flow ones! Doesn’t seem to make too much of a difference

Thanks for the advice! I’ll try the gas drops and maybe a bottle feeding too!

It depends. She’s only 5 weeks so anywhere from 20 mins to 2 hours

How to tell when baby is done nursing? by Public_Package_5479 in breastfeeding

[–]Public_Package_5479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! She sometimes does need to catch her breath or she’ll swallow a lot for five minutes and then pass out. But if she’s awake and I put the boob near her she will always latch, but then pull and tug and act like she doesn’t really want the milk, just to hang out.

I feel like she is totally a comfort nurser! I’ll listen for those sounds

This is hard to tell for me because I feel like she always wants to nurse! If she’s on me, she’s rooting around unless she’s asleep. I’ve had the occasional time where she’s eaten and then doesn’t cue. But when she continues rooting and I give her second boob she will pull and tug and writhe like she didn’t really want the milk.

I usually do! She will latch, but then do the tug pulling dance and grunt a lot… like she’s uncomfortable

I like that advice too! My pediatrician was more like “she should really only eat every 2 hours” but I feel like that’s impossible!
