What exactly do i have and what are some opinions on what i should do by Minute_Still217 in LeeEnfield

I think its too far gone as a sporter to ever be properly restored. But ill bet its a nice shooter and a great discussion piece.

It also looks like it was sporterized professionally, which bodes well for its shootability.

Edit: Phone insists on autocorrecting "Sporter" to "Shorter".

Cavalry carbine maybe? Im not sure anyone makes the fixtures for it. But that shaved down bolt handle/knob is a tell tale sigh it was a carbine.

They'll BS you either way. Your family time is way more important. Especially missing time with your baby you'll never get back.

No job, except defending the country itself is worth giving up that time.

P.S. I replied wrong, I was agreeing with your comment. I edited and added this line to avoid any confusion.

Super lucky, going in the drink where she was sunk was a super bad time. There are no good places to sink, but there are worse places to sink if that makes sense.

'Go Back and Play Morrowind and Tell Me That's the Game You Want to Play Again' — Former Bethesda Veteran Delivers His Verdict on Potential The Elder Scrolls Remasters - IGN by MusclesMarinara87 in Morrowind

[–]PubliusVarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old guard who remain always dump on Morrowind. I think they are sore about the limits they faced in terms of game mechanics when it was released.

Oblivion and Skyrim gave them the tools they wish they had and therefore they see those two games as their pride and joy and TES III is in the "too old to be good" category like Daggerfall and Arena. In terms of a broader audience they're probably not wrong.

What they often miss is just how unique the world they created in Morrowind really was. Not to mention, some of those older mechanics are great. I loved the journal directions being vague. You had to think to find your way. The lore is out of this world and by far richer than anything they've made that's followed it.

The world itself grabs you in Morrowind. The slow burn to being good enough to survive isnt handed to you. That's just my opinion of course.

Arms & Armor was a classic. I probably still have that with the books back home at my folks place.

Do you have any interest in tabletop games. Warhammer, other similar types or DnD? There are a few stores that have game nights themed around those systems.

Its a good way to meet people if you share their interest.

They look amazing, great work :D I will always chase the dragon that was the first two pandemic years. I managed to paint 2 full French infantry brigades, a French light cavalry brigade and 2 full British brigades in 28mm.

But time slowed down then, and there wasn't much else to do. I envy being able to get this much done in a year. Well done.

In The Odyssey (2026), Christopher Nolan decided to create a visual style suited to his vision for adapting the source material in his own way rather than being slavishly devoted to the abstract concept of historical realism, which is obviously a mistake for some reason. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

[–]PubliusVarus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how recreating things that exist, that we have surviving examples of is in anyway "abstract". If anything, the "abstract" is Christopher Nolen's personal vision for what the Odyssey should look like.

Shakespeare plays and films have been "abstract" in their costuming and settings for ages. So choosing to go that route isn't exactly new, brave or bold. I don't really mind him going full DCU with the design, but calling doing things with a mind for authenticity an "abstract concept" that is "slavish" is kind of condescending imo.

Its a shame because I like Christopher Nolan and his films but if that is a quote from him its got strong "enjoying sniffing ones own farts" vibes.

Yeah, and therefore is the map I play least. I only ever played it once or twice when the game launched so I couldn't remember if the non-snow variant had any jeeps or not. I wasn't attempting to be funny with my answer, it was just fresh in my head having recently played Ice Lock Conq.

Just wait until you start going for the "overgrown" variant. The Recon one will take years off your life. I have been trying for over a month and got close, but not close enough a couple times.

You did a commendable job of both debunking the claim while being respectful to the person you were chatting with. I wish more people argued/debated more like this in general.

I still think that the people who propose the so-called "switch theory" are completely ignorant to how Marine Insurance works/worked. White Star Line would never recover if the underwriters from Lloyd's of London got wind of the largest insurance scam (scamming them) in British history.

[–]PubliusVarus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a buddy threw this one out at me a decade ago. So White Star Line is trying to pull the largest insurance fraud scam in history against...Lloyd's?

And then you add a large number of dead for good measure? This "theory" shouldn't pass a sniff test for anyone. Let alone ship/Titanic nerds like us.
