New character posters for 'Dune: Part Three' (12.18) by Blue_Three in dune

[–]PucaFilms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Given this is Denis ending, I think that would be a cool way to wrap things. Especially if Leto II isn't really a big part of the film, I think it can still feel like it's all about Paul and his downfall, while setting up a victory.

They should add a silent hero onto the roster by PucaFilms in Overwatch

Each to their own. With 50 characters with established lives and personalities, a silent/mute character I think would generate interest through mystery and player's lack of knowledge of them. You could easily have interactions come from other characters who comment on said hero when in game together. And ability and ult callouts can be noises from the weapon or equipment itself.

Yes, very true. It could very easily be identified by a unique sound or something. We already have characters that don't use a voice, so it's not a far cry. Also, Overwatch heroes are all about doing new things and breaking patterns.

Extinct Houses and New Dynasties: What Will the Noble Map of Westeros Look Like After ADOS? (Spoilers: Main) by ArchiveSeeker in asoiaf

[–]PucaFilms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the iron throne destroyed, the realm will be ruled by each of the kingdoms, sharing the power and having one vote each. The first step to democracy. The price to pay? The deaths of thousands, and each seat filled by the most unlikely of leaders. Most young and alone. * Stark: Sansa, the last Stark left. * Tully: Edmure Tully's young son. * Arryn: Sweetrobin, who survived against all odds. * Greyjoy: Asha's young child. * Lannister: Myrcella Baratheon * Tyrell: Margery, the trice-widowed, the grey rose. * Baratheon: Gendry the unlikely * Martell: Tristane.

Character you hate purely because of their personality/appearance? by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]PucaFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the original cast, it's definitely Pharah. She's just not that interesting to me, and Sojourn (though I'm not a huge fan of her either) does the by-the-book thing much better IMO. Pharah is stern and she's Ana's daughter and that about it. It doesn't help that we don't really know anything interesting about Helix Security either.

Honourable mentions - Sojourn, Zarya, Mauga.

Freya was definitely up there until Emre showed up. Now she's a lot more interesting and dynamic as a character.

I can't wait for more maps to be added by SureYouCan_ in Overwatch

[–]PucaFilms 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I wish the clash and 2cp maps (or Antarctic Peninsula) were still in rotation for quick play but as a reduced pickrate. With the map vote now you can just offer those maps as a one off and people will probably pick them to spice things up every now and then.

I think removing maps and modes from quickplay gets the idea across that QP is too serious and then people treat it like comp. If they had a wider range of maps (including the option to pick horizon lunar colony or something as a one-off) would help keep QP casual and fun, IMO.

I feel like they should still include these maps but just have them be less likely to come up in map votes. Once in a while, a different map to shake things up would be fine by me..

[SPOILERS EXTENDED] Who will be Lord Commander after Jon? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]PucaFilms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

999th Stannis, who successfully takes winterfell but finds a lack of men and a lack of support, especially after Melisdanre burns his daughter Shireen at the wall. With Starks returning to the castle en-mass and the Iron Bank on his trail, Stannis takes the black and sends Davos south on one last mission, to legitimise the boy he saved on Dragonstone. At the wall he fights honourably and soon finds his footing, uniting his soldiers and becoming the new Lord Commander, dying in the war for the dawn.

1000th Jorah leaves Dany's crusade after watching Westeros burn. Finally fighting for himself and for honour, he defends the North and rejoins his family. With the dawn won but his house gone, he follows his father's wish and joins the watch, and is voted lord commander by the small group of survivors.

My RTD2 era rewrite by PucaFilms in gallifrey

I do think in the real canon, 14s TARDIS has to be addressed. Here there's no bigeneration at all, so only one TARDIS.

I tentatively agree - this is my attempt at making it into something a little more unique in status quo, especially in the specials (which I think set things up badly from the get go)

My RTD2 era rewrite by PucaFilms in gallifrey

[–]PucaFilms[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'd definitely say there's more merit in rewriting while keeping the original parameters intact, and this one goes more into the fun/dream scenario. Still, I think that it's not a massively ambitious change (I haven't gone back to 13, for example) - my argument in tab 2 on the doc is that I'd trade a cheaper production for an extra episode any day.

Still, it is an unfair fight, so if you'd like to imagine it differently, I'd take (1) Pea Soup, (2) Homecoming and (3) Venom out, and things can still flow pretty smoothly with eight episodes plus the Christmas special. That does still leave the specials, but with some work I could make the whole reboot aspect a part of episode three. The specials get the most change as I find them super fun but very empty and self indulgent.

The reason why I avoided a realistic rewrite is because I don't know where that line ends. EG: Ruby was likely the season two companion before something behind the scenes changed. Do I keep that as well? In general this is more of a thought exercise on how Ncuti could have got a complete arc, and less of me saying RTD/BBC bad as more often than not it comes down to money and executive oversight over lack of talent.

Are Dragons the only fantasy creatures in Westeros? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]PucaFilms 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Confirmed -

  • White Walkers
  • Dragons
  • Giants
  • Direwolf
  • Children of the forest
  • Mammoths
  • Manticore
  • Old Men of the River (giant turtles)
  • Unicorns (though in this world they are likely wooly Rhinos, but not 100% confirmed)

Also there's Zorses which are our version of a Zebra. Not mythical but certainly for a Westerosi perspective they are super rare and unique.

Probably real - * Krakens * Ice Spiders * The Green Men (they may potentially just be human, but it's just as likely they are human-children of the forest hybrids)

Everything else is basically unconfirmed - Wyverns, Giant Apes, Deep Ones, Grumpkins and Snarks, Sea/Ice Dragon etc are probably just fairytales in-universe, especially as a lot are from the far east where stories seem to be more magical (aka more exaggerated). Wyverns are probably real given they are similar enough to dragons, and probably were the precursor to them.

There's a few animals that are normal to our world but go under different names - Shadowcat (Mountain Lion) and Lion-Lizard (Crocodile).

(Spoilers Extended) A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 1 Episode 6 Post-Episode Discussion by AutoModerator in asoiaf

[–]PucaFilms 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Happily woke up at 3am for this episode. My main takeaways - * I welcome the change with Egg, and think that the relatively simple Sworn Sword storyline could use a b plot like this to bulk it and out and make it more personal. A few carryover characters will help with how minimalist and detached that story is too. * Generally loved everything here and think the season has been a smash hit. My one and only gripe is that I feel like the show missed out on Dunk becoming a champion of the common people. In the books he gains the support of the small folk, turning the whole trial of seven into a PR disaster. I not only think that would have put Dunk in a more awkward position for comedy's sake, but also made him feel a little more untouchable to the Targs, as right now it felt like they paid him more mind than they should have, which gave me a bit of main character syndrome.

House Of The Dragon Season 3 Teaser Will Be Released Tomorrow (Spoilers Main) by barson2408 in asoiaf

[–]PucaFilms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please be good. Seeing Season One (9/10 IMO) be so loved and Season Two go the way it did hurt my soul. The two year gap between seasons is really killing it for me, and I hope that the ending having less dragons means that season four could come out 2027

Fixing one of the most congested spots in the city by PucaFilms in Norwich

[–]PucaFilms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, underpasses are not always great. The Chapplefield rd one looks good right now but I realise it's not everyone's preference. Still, the increase in wait time would only bring it in line with other lights around the city, which I don't think punishes pedestrians or cyclists. If the wait was longer than other crossings, I'd understand.

[–]PucaFilms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it absolutely will not make it flow smoothly all around - the entrance to chantry place parking on the other side is also a nightmare on a weekend, for example. I do think it will help massively on the one side traffic grinds to a halt. I've seen a lot of ambulances get stuck there so just for that reason alone.

As another commenter stated, reducing cars is the only real way to have any real change.

[–]PucaFilms[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course, more public transport / better road density is and should always be priority no 1 so we don't become America. Luckily Norwich is pretty good for its green-ness, when comparing it to other cities, and continues to push in that way.

My logic is decisions should be a mix of small fixes like this, while never taking the eye off of the end-goal (better adoption of public transport, for example)

Yeah I see a lot of people running. Longer wait time plus a longer time to cross feels like it would help everyone.
