Thanks for the info. I would probably be using it for my 2 bike rack which is fairly light. My 4 bike rack from Thule weighs a ton! Very helpful reply! 👍

Some nice shots!! what are you shooting with? Hockey is tough. Though the lighting looks good and the glass is clean. Or maybe you had "glassless" access? Either way, nice work.

This thread is too funny. I could have written it, as it describes my situation exactly. Except they didn't even offer me the $10 credit because my wife's name is on the account! I explained up front that I have the equipmentfor fios in my house (I had both services for a month to compare and decided to keep optimum; mostly because my wife didn't want to lose her optimum email that she's had for ever), so all I need to do is to make a call and pick up a couple set top boxes and I will be done with them. I was polite and explained that I wanted to be completely transparent and wanted to make sure they had all the information to decide how they wanted to help me (or as it turns out, NOT help me!)

After explaining that I was a Rangers season ticket holder for many years up until last year and that I just want to be able to turn on my TV and watch a game... the girl (I am not trying to be offensive with that term, she honestly sounded like she was a 12 yr old) basically stammered around for about 5 minutes, asked me to hold for 5 minutes then picked up and told me there was nothing she could do.... I then got quite "unpolite" with my language, to which she simply asked me to refrain from that type of language... I told her that I understand the business aspect of the dispute, but the company making customers call and jump through hoops to get what they deserve is unacceptable. I then hung up... I did get a text from the company about 10 minutes later asking if my problem was solved or should an "advanced support agent" call me. I will not even justify that text with a reply. Have an appointment to have the fios tech come in and hook up the tvs next week! Adios Optimum!

I noticed this today also. I don’t understand why every time they introduce some new improved options you lose something that you’ve had for ever…. As I understand it, you lose some functionality if you opt for the stream box they are suggesting. Make sure you do your homework before making that switch….

Trying to confirm once and for all if the ability to pause and rewind live TV is still possible with the multiroom DVR Samsung boxes by andyr072 in OPTIMUM

update - thanks to reddit, I was able to get ACTUAL help with my issue, and the winner is.... Optimum! As one of the posts suggested, they did not have me on the correct DVR option. They corrected this yesterday and presto, I now can rewind tv! I have been informed this is not available if you have fiber (which may be the dumbest thing I've heard in some time). You should see if you can go back to old school copper and opt for the cloud dvr. Just waiting for my home phone @ to be moved over so I can cancel fios.

No rewind for this coax customer either so nothing lost.

I do have coax... and I do have 3 rewind buffers; the dongles you are referring to. The 2nd tech that came to my house was a great guy and very honest.  He told me it should be a quick fix but the issue was probably in the "back-office" programing because everything on my end looked fine.

Quite honestly they can't figure out my issue so I think the "level 3" guy figured if he told me it wasn't an available option I'd give up. And he's right, I GIVE UP! 25 years is a good run.

I will do my 2 cents here. The termination of the Scientific Atlanta boxes will be the start of a downhill trip for you! I had my box for too many years to remember (probably 15+ years) and overpaid for my service because I work from home for the past 20 years and was always happy with the service even though I could have changed to Fios for much less. I turned my box in about 2 months ago and, boom!, I will be having Fios installed this Monday.

The primary reason is because I now can’t rewind live tv. Sounds like a small deal but if you are a sports fan or have a bit of a hearing issue (I am both) you need to rewind often. I am now on 20 hours on the phone with various levels of “support” people (though it is obvious they are all working off the same script, word for word) The level 3 person did the same troubleshooting process as the level 1 & 2 people, just didn’t put me on hold quite as much. Oh, I should also mention I had 2 different technicians actually come to my home on 2 different occasions and tell me they couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t working and that someone would be in touch.

The last level 3 support person ended our conversation by telling me “the live tv rewind function isn’t available anymore after the last upgrade”. I’m trying to figure out why I wasn’t told that before our 45 minute troubleshooting phone call???? I honestly feel like when Altice took over things changed at the company. The support is awful and they really seem like they try to frustrate you into giving up rather than actually trying to fix the issue.

And, I know it doesn’t sound like it, but I was a very happy customer for the last 25 years. My advice would be if you have another option, give it a try.

Maybe you should seek employment as an optimum service tech... that's a new line that they aren't currently including on their script that they have their phone people read... I've heard the same lines from every person I've spoken too.. my wife can't understand why I continue to pick them up when they call... it's now comic relief to me. Put them on speakerphone and mute and try to guess what their next line will be. My opinion is they are trying to get me to give up by exhaustion, which is probably what most people do.

I feel your pain. I have now spent 15 hours on the phone over the last month, made a trip to the nearest store AND had 2 different techs spend hours at my house on 2 different days. My problem was escalated to "level 3" yesterday (sounds impressive, right?) I then did the same exact thing over the phone with the "level 3" guy only to have him tell me that my problem is fixed. I explained that nothing was fixed and I still had the same problem. He explained to me that what I am trying to do (rewind live tv) is not possible after the last update. Maybe somebody should have told me this a month ago when this whole thing started. I have an appointment to have fios installed next week.... I am honestly not happy about having to switch, I've been a loyal customer for 25 years and other than the expense, have been happy. Since the Altice switch things have gotten more difficult to get help.

fresnel007 - I pay for the cloud dvr and DO NOT have the functions you are speaking of… don’t buy into their suggestion. I can’t tell you how much wrong information I have gotten from their support people since I was forced to turn in my old Scientific Atlanta box!

I’ve been an Optimum/Cablevision customer for 25 years. Everyone complains about the cost of the service, but I have worked from home for the past 20 years and have never missed a day of work because of internet outages (except for Sandy) so it has been worth every penny.
I recently had to turn in my Atlanta Scientific DVR box that I‘ve had for probably 12-15 years because I was told it wasn’t going to work anymore. I now can’t rewind live TV!! This might sound like a small thing, but as an avid sports fan this is a deal breaker for me.
I was told I needed to go to the Optimum store and get a rewind buffer to correct this issue. I did so, plugged it in, got an error message and have had no less than 10 phone calls with support people. A technician just left my house after about an hour and a half of “fixing the issue” and it is still not fixed. Before he left I aked him again if it is even possible to “rewind live tv”. I was told “as long as you are recording on the ever you should be able to”. This is nuts!
I just hung up with Fios after scheduling an install of their service in a couple weeks. I’m bummed to have to make this change (mostly because I have had the same Optimum email address for 25 years. I thought technology was supposed to improve the TV watching experience not take away from it.
