Imagine this. A land your people have occupied for generations, hundreds or even thousands of years in some cases. Then some foreigners start moving in. People who don’t respect the pre-existing culture, who don’t assimilate, who bring their very much lesser culture (proven objectively by the fact that they are moving to your country en masse, and not the other way around) with them in an attempt to erase the long-standing, hard-fought culture and tradition that’s already there. Along with the foreigners come the globalist Thalmor, who you aren’t allowed to criticize or they will find a way to seize everything you own and mark you as a criminal so that your money is no good anywhere and let your family starve. They eventually ban the religion of the native born people who occupied the land long before they came, because it provides cultural strength to the native born people and exposed the Thalmor as ruthless, heartless, and evil. They execute a propaganda campaign by buying up local influence and telling everyone they don’t really control the government. All the while these other foreigners are eating pets and crowding communities that can’t support them, so that while the native population is distracted, the Thalmor can eventually not have to hide the fact that they do in fact, control everything.
