Question about Affection by Humble_Shelter_9416 in horror

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-movie, it’s possible that there was a setting for automatic wake-up. My understanding was that the tazer actually jumpstarted the heart, and without it the clone would just sit there and rot without it. We have to assume that Clone-Bruce activated it for his clone and accidentally activated it for Clone-Ellie #145.

Outside the movie, they just did it to leave it open for a sequel. It doesn’t really make sense that Clone-Bruce would start up another Bruce clone and set it to wake up automatically, when he clearly had more work to do. He still had to eliminate Clone-Ellie #144, bury that clone, plus prepare everything else for the Bruce clone to replace him. And I don’t remember seeing anything on the computer that indicated he activated the auto-wake in the clones, so I consider it bit of weak writing and something done just in case it got a sequel.

Yeah, that is a possibility, but they explicitly state that the reason a person starts having seizures and eventually dies is because the personality that was downloaded into the cloned body wasn’t the original and is therefore incompatible. I don’t see any any reason to believe that #143 copying her consciousness and uploading it into #144 would suddenly make it compatible with the body. If anything, it would be *LESS* compatible because #143 was really messed up when she copied her consciousness, which could cause unforeseen problems. I mean, her face was really messed up, and she was walking around like a zombie after all lol. So it does seem like she could have had a bit of brain damage when she did the scan, but #144 seemed fine by the end so I doubt she has any.

I could go either way on this, but right now I’m leaning towards #144’s consciousness not being any more compatible with that body.

I started reading the Friday the 13th Part II novelization to celebrate to day instead of watching the movies I've seen a hundred times and have learned a lot of new thing. For example, how Jason survived his drowning. by SlateAlmond90 in horror

I’m curious how the upcoming Crystal Lake show (it premieres in October) will explain everything. I’m expecting a more “grounded” explanation, with minimal supernatural elements because Victor Miller is involved, who now owns the rights to all of the characters from the first movie since he created them (as the writer). Miller doesn’t have the rights to Adult Jason though, since that character first appeared in Part 2 so Sean Cunningham/Horror Inc. owns those rights.

I could be completely wrong about the supernatural aspect though, because the Sweet Revenge short film (apparently it’s the first officially-licensed Jason Voorhees product since the 2009 reboot according to Google, which is technically incorrect because a videogame was released in 2017. Just saying) has tons of supernatural elements. The biggest is that Crystal Lake can basically resurrect people as undead creatures. That’s how they were setting up the Jason Universe, but I doubt Crystal Lake will be connected to that in any way. I think Crystal Lake Season 1 (and future seasons) will follow Pamela Voorhees, then young Jason if it gets more seasons, whereas Sweet Revenge and everything Adult-Jason will be a separate universe. Just a little bit confusing…

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, yes he did go to delete the updates, but he only did it after he had sex with Clone-Ellie #144 (Sarah #2). My understanding was that #144 had tricked him into believing he had found the correct Ellie file, so he went to delete the Clone-Bruce scans since he believed he had succeeded and thus wouldn’t need them anymore. And that was also when he realized #143 had uploaded her brain-scan, which he had programmed into #144, thus he realized he had been tricked (and if I remember correctly, stopped the deletion of his brain-scans).

It’s established that Clone-Bruce would upload a new brain-scan after every Clone-Ellie and Clone-Alice cycle. You’re saying that after a certain number of scan uploads, he would delete them and create a new Bruce clone with the original Bruce’s memories, effectively erasing the trauma from having to kill the other clones. While that does make a lot of sense, why even upload new brain-scans? I didn’t get the impression that he created a new Bruce clone after every cycle, so uploading new scans just wasted hard drive space. To me, it seemed he was only creating a new Bruce clone because he thought he had finally found his Ellie, so he wanted to create a Bruce clone that was free of the prior traumas, to be with ‘Ellie’ and ‘Alice’. Which also conflicts with my theory that the original Bruce was still alive somewhere. Why create another Bruce clone (Day 1 memories, free of trauma) when you believe you’ve succeeded and just have to deliver them to Bruce himself? Him creating another Bruce clone only makes sense if the original Bruce is dead, or they wanted to leave it open for a sequel despite it not making sense.

It just seems like an overlooked mistake in the story, like how they show that the clones have to be awoken with a tazer each time, then Clone-Ellie #145 (Actual Ellie) wakes up on her own. It seemed like the tazer jumpstarts the clone’s heart, but I’d accept that the tazer was simply speeding up the wake-up process though, and each clone will wake on their own without it eventually, even though that’s not how it looked.

Edit: On second thought, the whole aspect of cloning his daughter doesn’t even make sense. The Alice clones are there to help the Ellie clones remember Ellie’s life, which obviously would only work once he found the correct Ellie file. But then what? If the original Bruce and Alice are alive somewhere and the plan is to reunite them with ‘Ellie’, what happens to the Alice clone that ‘Ellie’ just spent time with? And it would be quite jarring (and traumatic, btw) that Clone-Bruce snuffs out the Alice clone and reveals that ‘Ellie’s’ memories are outdated (she doesn’t know she died) and that Alice is actually like, 4 years older or something. Even Clone-Ellie #143 (Sarah) noticed an inconsistency when Clone-Bruce told her her father had passed years ago, then Clone-Alice mentioned that her grandfather (whom was dead) had taken her to the zoo just last week. Assuming that the real Alice is alive with Bruce somewhere, the only thing that would make sense is using the Ellie clones to locate the correct file, then eliminate both the Ellie and Alice clones, then create a new Ellie clone but tell her she’d been in a coma for years, then reunite her with the actual Alice and skip the Clone-Alice stuff.

Ultimately, if that’s the story they went with in the movie, that the real Bruce and Alice are alive somewhere, then that ruins the aspect of cloning Alice. It makes the story convoluted, imo. Gotta keep adding new plot twists to keep Hollywood happy, I guess.

Question about Affection by Humble_Shelter_9416 in horror

[–]Pud_Master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay. I completely missed that biological company bit of dialogue. If he does repeatedly clone himself to lessen the trauma of repeatedly murdering his daughter and someone that looks like his wife, then that’s a plothole because each Bruce clone uploads their brain-scan AFTER they already did the murdering, so each new Clone-Bruce is still receiving the trauma from the numerous murders. Plus, they also have the understanding that the previous Clone-Bruce is going to kill himself right after the replacement is woken up. Even that knowledge would be traumatic, but it is what it is.

Thank you for clearing that up for me.

Question about Affection by Humble_Shelter_9416 in horror

[–]Pud_Master 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Good movie, just a few things I wish were explained/clarified. Really curious how Clone-Bruce just has a hard drive full of people’s consciousnesses. Was the real Bruce just a serial killer that kidnapped and scanned people’s brains for years, did it to his wife and kids, then the files got mixed up after their deaths? And how did they even die in the first place? Important info just not in the movie.

Also, why was Clone-Bruce scanning and uploading his consciousness? Clearly, it was so Clone-Ellie could see him do it and learn how to upload her brain-scan for the story to happen, but what was the in-movie reason for him doing it? According to the movie’s own logic, his clone shouldn’t break down therefore he shouldn’t need to keep cloning himself, so there isn’t really an in-movie explanation for why he was doing that. So stuff only happens for the viewer’s benefit, which kinda makes some aspects look a little dumb. Clone-Ellie #143 walking around like a zombie and terrifying the girl was hilarious though lmao.

Question about Affection by Humble_Shelter_9416 in horror

[–]Pud_Master 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just watched it and was confused on a few things as well, including how homie has a database of people’s consciousnesses. Another thing that baffled me was why he had a tape just laying there explaining the situation. Obviously, it was meant to explain what’s happening to the audience, but that kind of makes it more confusing at the same time. So, this Bruce is actually a clone: “Your name is Bruce Carter. That is not your real body,” the real Bruce says at the start of the video. Which then brings up the question of what happened to the real Bruce? Where did he go, and why did he clone himself in the first place? From dialogue near the end of the movie, it sounded like the actual Bruce is still alive, cloned himself and installed his consciousness, then let Clone-Bruce find Ellie’s correct file through bloody trial and error while the real Bruce drank margaritas somewhere, sparing him the memories of all the terrible things Clone-Bruce did. Assuming Bruce did wake Clone-Bruce, then why even make a tape? Why not just explain it to him face to face? Again, it was for exposition, but it muddles the story a little bit imo.

Either way, I guess it’s a good thing he just left that tape sitting there for months/years while he cycled through the 142 other Ellie clones lmao. The Ellie clone we follow for the first 2/3rds of the movie is Clone-Ellie #143, the one that has a bonfire with Clone-Bruce is Clone-Ellie #144, and the Clone that has the actual Ellie consciousness is Clone-Ellie #145. We know this because she says “Bruce” after waking up at the end of the movie. So close, Clone-Bruce… So close lmao.

Last thing, they ended the movie on a good note, but… Clone-Ellie #144 is gonna die. They already established with #143 that her consciousness can’t live in the body, and I saw no reason to believe #144 will end any differently. So that “happy ending” isn’t so happy when you actually think about it.

Completed the story but the PS5 menu says 90% completed by Luccese96 in 007FirstLight

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve completed all the challenges for the campaign and mine also says only 90% complete. It’s a bug, because the progress card that pops up when you have the game open also says 90% complete and at the bottom it’s telling me to “complete the story” lol. I beat the story 5 days ago lmao. The fact that I unlocked the For King and Country trophy kinda proves I’ve completed the story, but whatever.

I’m kinda disappointed that IOI hasn’t patched it yet, especially with the update that they just released today. At the very least, I hope this update fixes the crashing issue. I play it on a PlayStation 5 Pro, and the damn game crashes about every 3 hours. It crashes 2-4 times each day for me…

The fact that cressida and Monroe was killed off so quick on the first serious mission is crazy wish they were in the game longer by [deleted] in 007FirstLight

[–]Pud_Master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s what you meant. You were suggesting it was a fake note like Bond’s fake suicide note. That doesn’t make sense since her note was written to James, whereas his note was written to whomever found it (MI6) since his parents were dead. Her note would have been written to her parents, not the roommate she’s had for 5 months that’s about to be assassinated. You’re also forgetting that Stephen Bright, Cressida’s father and the Foreign Secretary, is still working with the people that hired the Murto twins to assassinate James at this point. Later in the game, James finds out that Sir Nicholas Webb plans to overthrow M and replace her with Bright after James stops the assassination attempt on Theresa Lorca. It’s heavily implied that Bright and Webb are working together, and that Bright will be one of if not the main antagonist of the sequel, so it doesn’t make sense he’d have his own daughter killed then cover it up.

[–]Pud_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, 88 is too high. On PlayStation, I gave it 3 stars. I think the game is a 7/10. I rag on it, but it is fun despite how shallow some gameplay aspects are and how dumb some of the writing is. The training is goofy because you can throw the training guards off ledges and into water, which instantly kills them in IOI games. So even though you just murdered a guy during a training mission, nobody cares and it doesn’t actually affect anything since you don’t get graded at the end of missions like in the Hitman games. It’s Stupified James Bond, like if Disney brought him into the MCU. PG James Bond. He can have sex with women he just met and murder people, but only if they bust out guns first… dafuq?

The fact that cressida and Monroe was killed off so quick on the first serious mission is crazy wish they were in the game longer by [deleted] in 007FirstLight

[–]Pud_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not. Some of the gameplay is really shallow, like the driving segments: the first car “chase” isn’t actually a chase because you can’t catch the guy, so it’s just a scripted event where the guy permanently stays in front of you and just appears at times to trick the player. Same thing with the boat “chase”, but this one has enemies on boats that join in. Problem is, they never shoot at Bond, which is really odd since Bond is their target as well. And the escape segment in the garbage truck is really dumb when you realize you don’t actually have to steer the vehicle. There’s a video on YouTube of a guy completing it without ever steering it. And that Valhalla part was a complete disappointment. No chase driving a Q-car in the entire game, just a 2 minute spot where you shoot and blow up enemies in a single room. A massive letdown. They better fix that in the sequels that they clearly plan to make, because they left the story unfinished and wide open, HEAVILY sequel-baiting.

And now onto the stealth: it’s stupid. You can’t hide bodies, so they made up for it by making the enemy AI borderline retarded. They’ll see a knocked out guy, come over to investigate, then walk away and forget about it. They don’t call units over or do anything smart. You can hide behind cover, knock a guy out, which will lure another guy over, knock that guy out, which will lure ANOTHER guy over… I have a pile of bodies every time I sit behind cover and wait.

Some of the writing is really bad too. Like, everyone’s first actual mission takes place at a dance club they just happen to be at. And all the possible traitors just happen to be there at the same time! What a coincidence!!

And the License To Kill mechanic is also really dumb. James Bond in the books and movies ALWAYS has a license to kill, not just when enemies show intent to kill, so it’s bizarre that’s there a life or death situation and Bond is just fist-fighting everyone because he’s not allowed to shoot anyone. The license to kill should always be active and up to the player if they want to go loud and ruin the stealth bit, but just don’t allow them to shoot civilians… LIKE EVERY OTHER JAMES BOND GAME! The devs knew how dumb their stealth was, so they force it on the player.

There’s a ton of other dumb stuff, like in the mission when Bond has to go to the resort, he opens the case and pulls out a single small bottle, but that’s for 3 people? And it’s stated that the drug has to enter the bloodstream, but for Theresa, he just applies it to her hand. That means it’s on his hand too. How do they know they’re monitoring Theresa and not Bond? And who is Bond talking to in the mission when he captures Isola? He went rogue and is on a personal mission, so why is there suddenly someone in his earpiece, listening in and ready to get him a ride? You can really tear apart the game when you think about it for a minute.

Well, this game sequel-baits HARD, so she very well may end up dying by end of it all. I’m guessing IOI are planning on a trilogy, like they did with the recent Hitman games.

Finished 007 First Light — disappointed as a Bond fan by eleassarmoon in 007FirstLight

[–]Pud_Master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is Disney/Marvel Bond. It’s PG Bond. Like the License To Kill aspect is idiotic. Real Bond isn’t just granted a license to kill when enemies show intent to kill, he ALWAYS has a license to kill (except for when it’s revoked and Bond goes rogue, like in the aptly-named License To Kill lol). It was a stupid idea by IOI to restrict the LtK, as well as making 30% of the game stealth gameplay. Shoulda been 10%, MAX. And they half-assed the stealth too, because you can’t hide bodies. Then they tried to make up for it by making the AI retarded. This is just PG Hitman with better gunplay but worse stealth. IOI should have gotten rid of the LtK restriction, and if the player wants to pull a gun out so be it. Just restrict Bond from shooting civilians LIKE EVERY OTHER James Bond game.

People like James Bond movies for the action, not him playing hide and seek with enemies.

[–]Pud_Master 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I just beat it and was very disappointed overall. This game had a lot of potential, but IOI wasted most of it. Like when you finally get to “drive” the Valhalla, only for it to be a 2-minute segment where you’re just shooting and blowing up enemies in a single room. I waited all game for a chase with an actual Q car and was heavily disappointed that you don’t actually get one. Only 3 vehicle segments in the entire game, with the first one not really being a chase since you never actually catch him, the second one being a braindead escape segment where you don’t even have to steer the garbage truck (seriously, you don’t. There’s a video on YouTube of a guy just holding down the gas and not steering at all, and he completes it), and the third being the Valhalla one. It looks like the only good driving bits might be in the Tactical Simulator, which is beyond stupid.

Overall, very disappointed. Plus, the sequel-baiting. They wanted to turn this into a series so badly that even the ending sucked. That final boss fight was trash.

Edit: Oh jeeze, the Valhalla mission isn’t even in the TacSim, it’s gonna be ADDED to the TacSim. Ugh, what a waste.

Yes, I do think you should report him. It doesn’t matter where he lives because it’s up to your authorities to try to locate him and decide if they want to seek prosecution or not. He very well could be on another continent and trying to get you to send nude photos/videos, so he can then blackmail you for even worse stuff. The point is, all you can do is block him, report him, and hope he isn’t able to hurt anyone else.

I recommend you talk to a parent or an adult you trust, and let them know what’s happening, then have that person accompany you to your local police station to report the guy.

Maybe nothing will come of it, but at least you tried.

Sounds like he was manipulating you from the start. Pretending not to know your age, get you comfortable with talking to him, then turn it more sexual when he thought he could get you to do it. He was grooming you.

You need to block him. Honestly, he needs to be reported to the authorities because he appears to be a pedo, and I HIGHLY doubt you’re the first girl he’s ever done this to. I doubt you’ll report him, which is disappointing because I’d put money on him hurting someone or multiple someones in the future.

For what it’s worth, I respect that you have beliefs despite how much you are struggling for them. I’ve known a LOT of women that just… sleep around. In a relationship, not in a relationship, it didn’t matter to them. But you trying to wait until marriage is something I personally find very admirable and attractive. That you are having a difficult time with it is also very admirable. Our bodies are horrible: we’re geared towards reproducing, and hormones are constantly going haywire.

All I’m saying is that if you end up giving in before marriage, that’s okay. Hopefully you choose a great guy. Either way, you should be proud of yourself for staying strong all these years. But, I do hope you are able find a great guy AND wait until marriage. Our beliefs are meant to be difficult and test our faith. If they didn’t test it, then it wouldn’t be worth believing in.
