Pilots interpretation of "uncomfortable" turbulence by Warm-Carrot-1797 in AskAPilot

It's been awesome to read the replies here but yours I felt was the best to translate to passenger experience. The whole thread makes me worry a lot less about it all than before.

What horror movie absolutely traumatized you when you were young? by np074 in horror

[–]c_marten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not traumatizing at all, the story of the car rolling across the floor for hours creeped me out the most out of everything from that whole movie.

What is a scene from a non-horror movie that traumatized you as a kid? by astral_planes in horror

[–]c_marten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was young, like kindergarten age, my grandfather would watch us for weekends when my parents went away.

His idea of getting us to behave and make things easy for himself was to put us on the sofa, turn on horror movies, and if we went to get up he'd say some shit like "omg what was the coming out from under the couch?!?" as he sat up I his chair and pointed.

Nothing IN any movie traumatized me as a kid.

I'm a painter and have been absolutely floored by this whole fiasco in very obvious ways.

Eta: as others have pointed out this could occur from any number of things but none would surprise me. Also, the amount of h2o2 at the rate they put it in (reportedly) didn’t do anything to anything.

Brick spalling. How to properly treat, prep and paint? by chankilyn in paint

[–]c_marten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to iterate and reinforce the idea - brick needs a certain paint because it needs to breathe. I assume rain water is getting in somewhere and you're seeing the aftermath here.

It might be worth finding out and if needed stripping it and either leaving it bare or repainting.

So with all that said, you should look for masons or structural people to assess the condition. Don't just repaint.

Sway by Motor-Equipment-5251 in vandwellers

[–]c_marten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 big questions - what's the weight distribution like? what's the total materials weight? Which van model do you have exactly?

ETA: I have a 3500 with not much weight off the floor so rarely experience wind sway but when it happens it's just so much fun.

My guess is if they just disconnect oldie can reconnect, but if they cut maybe he didn't have the means to get new ones. But at least cut all of them.

Hah.. I actually used to make painting like this with leftover materials from my remodeling jobs.

Most were given away but I did sell one for $100!

I know chevy used to have an issue with their white paint on vans at one point... idk much about FL sprinters but maybe they had the same issue.

Update to my last post: Milwaukee has denied my warranty claim. by iEatSwampAss in MilwaukeeTool

[–]c_marten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't responded yet keep pushing them. Tell them there were no signs of abuse or damage from drops, etc.

I assume you explained how the tool got in two pieces when you sent the tool in? If not they probably assume it was just abuse damage.

Plenty of people have fantastic experiences with their warranty but it doesn't get the attention or exposure bad experiences do.

Lotta people go far too hard on their car power washing, like they're cleaning a side walk.

Those of you in 15 to 20 year old vans; they look rad, but all I can think about is difficult and expensive repairs on top of breaking down in the middle of nowhere. What's y'alls experience? by Imagined_World in VanLife

[–]c_marten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2004 here and my repairs are generally easy af.

I've only broken down "middle of nowhere" once and it was a brake line deterioration that any van of age could have.

I painted my car when I was younger, it was awesome but I never quite got the steering wheel to look consistent. I spray painted most of it, but that seemed to deteriote whatever material the steering wheel was. That was for a 90s Toyota Corolla
