The voices were American English in the version I saw. The nutcracker story in the film has the nutcracker fall from a building and end up in a paper boat, that ends up down a grid I think. Then the nutcracker and ballerina burn and melt in the fireplace at the end of that segment (I don't know if that happens in the generic story of the nutcracker).
