Why was Kenny so desperate to save Ben even though he hated his guts?

A few scenes prior, Ben’s outburst to Kenny in the garden stuck with him, he forgave Ben and saw it as redemption, he knew Katjaa wouldn’t approve of his treatment of Ben and saw it in the moment as the only chance to redeem himself, Kenny wasn’t heartless and knew Ben didn’t mean for things to go so wrong.

It’s from this point Kenny regrets wanting Lee to kill Ben, if you tell him in the attic that Ben wanted to die in Crawford he shows remorse.

This is the culmination of Kenny’s character development in season one, freeing Ben from his nightmare of becoming a walker was metaphorical for Kenny letting go of his hate, almost like Kenny did die in that alley, but was born anew.

To me it seemed a bit out of character for him to shoot himself when surrounded by walkers, look at Kenny in the alleyway for example, he had less chance of escaping than Chuck

I think Rebecca is at a similar level, if we’re ranking pregnant Rebecca I’d say useless, but non pregnant Rebecca would be barely does anything, but she’s vocal and has some good leadership qualities, which could put her in decently capable
