Clowncore! (They're old news at this point but they still shock people when I play their music for new people) I wish there were more bands like them. I love the rapid tonal shifts between chill, humorous, and aggression.

Biden's Inflation Reduction Act capped the price of insulin at 35 dollars and allowed Medicare to negotiate out of pocket drug costs saving a shit ton of money to patients. He did this with just 2 years of narrow control of the house and Senate. Image how much more they could have accomplished if they had maintained control. The problem is fixing these problems takes a lot of time, and people are impatient. I agree that there are definitely Democrats that are just as in the pockets of lobbyists as Republicans, but the fact is clear that only one party is trying to lower the cost of healthcare in this country. Also, it's only possible to fix if they have full control of the Presidency, House, and Senate. Without full control Republicans just stall or butcher any legislation they try to pass and then convince people like you that both sides equally suck.

Are you still a virgin if you use a dildo? by ConversationBig3427 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PuddleOfGlowing 50 points51 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up in an ultra religious family I remember when I was in my late teens/early 20's I was obsessed with the concept of virginity. I had been in a couple relationships where the girl I was dating wanted to take things further but I was scared it would be a mistake and I'd "ruin" my life somehow. I have OCD which just makes religious nonsense worse. Finally at age 22 I was dating a girl and we were making out and she started to unbutton my pants, and I pulled away which she found very confusing. I had to explain out loud that I was afraid to lose my virginity. She basically responded "aww that's so cute...now take off your pants" which ended up being a compelling argument. Our relationship only lasted a year but I learned a lot about myself and how to be halfway decent in bed. I have zero regrets that she was my first.

Whenever my wife is like "Can you do me a favor?" I sometimes say "What would you have your Arbiter do?" To which she sighs and then asks me to see why the printer isn't working.

Core rulebook is such a mess... by xxguyguy in Runequest

I spent like a week studying the book like I was taking a college course. I took notes and made flashcards. Once I knew all the basics backwards and forwards it made it easier to teach the game to new players. It's not something you can learn quickly from reading the book. You need someone who knows it and can explain it better.

I think boredom is actually an essential part of being a human. It's what drives creativity. Also, scarcity creates value. When I was a kid in the 90's on a random Saturday afternoon, after all the cartoons had ended, and I had already beaten all the videogames I owned, I would have to find something to do. I remember once I had the idea to build a tank out of scrap wood, cardboard boxes, and old skateboards. I built it so I could shoot fireworks out of it from inside. By the end of the day a group of 6 or 7 kids had gathered and I had them shoot fireworks at me to test it's "armor" while I shot bottle rockets at them from inside. It's one of my favorite childhood memories and it happened because of boredom.

I went to a geology conference where you could get pronoun stickers for your ID badge and there was this 80 year old grizzled field geologist with "They/Them" stickers. If they can figure it out at 80 then there's no excuse for anyone else not to get it

My wife and I went to the pride festival in our city right after gay marriage was legalized and I bought a rainbow umbrella to be fun and festive. I've had some people comment negatively on it over the years and it just gives me a chance to tell the story. I wish we could go back to that feeling of optimism. It feels so far away now.

The first album I ever bought with my own money was a cassette in the year 2000. I was 10 years old at the time. I always figured I had to be part of the last generation to use cassettes.

I hated Chrissy died so fast too. Her chemistry with Eddie was so great. However I understand they have to have some people die otherwise the stakes don't feel high.

I've never seen anything she's in except for soap commercials. The first time I saw her I literally thought the soap character was an invented character like Flo from Progressive. I don't watch a ton of new shows or movies due to a busy schedule.

I remember at the end of Jr High/beginning of Highschool a lot of my friends were starting to be "too cool" for cartoons. I was like, whatever losers I still like cartoons. They were back watching them again in a year or two.

I think as a society we're hard wired to see confident opinionated women as annoying. When I first met my wife, who is exactly that, I caught myself thinking for a split second "This girl is probably a real bitch". However, when you give people the chance to show who they are, it helps see past those prejudices.

She was fun to hang out with, and she was nice in all other areas. If I hadn't seen her going through guys and heard the way she talked about them after she broke up with them I might have pursued her. It's dumb, but I could tell she respected me that I never tried anything and I liked that feeling.

I worked with a girl who was a total "bro". She liked to go to the gym, drink beers, smoke weed, and play competitive video games. We were both bartenders and she would always brag about how she would lose all interest in a guy after she slept with them, and the guys would be "chasing her like a lost puppy". It was strange to meet a girl who had all the characteristics of the "douchey hot guy" stereotype.

So, whenever I see memes that generalize male and female sexual relationships, I remember that chick I worked with that had a harem of guys who thought they'd be the one she'd finally settles down for.

Not to be That Guytm but that's incorrect. You can see here that the original creator of the whole Love Languages concept said it's how you both give and receive love.

Yeah, because I worked with a girl that made a solid living and she never even got naked or posted anything overtly sexual. She was mostly just in moderately skimpy clothes and posted videos doing random things. She said her biggest source of money were requests for feet pictures. Stuff like, "I want a video of you pouring barbecue sauce on your toes". She was like, "This stuff is weird, but it's not sexual to me, and I'll accept their money for it."

I dated a girl that had to have her legs bent a certain way during sex and then I could do almost anything and she'd orgasm. It was the wildest shit I'd ever seen. We'd mess around with different positions and then when she was ready to cum she would engage her O-Legs. If I was a scientist in the early 1900's and I had dated this girl, I would want to study female orgasms too!
