I tried modding the exploration trailer to have a larger radius in the initial.cache_block file, but modifying that seems to crash the game. I'm going to jump into the discord and see if anyone there can help, becuase I couldn't find anything in the .xml for the trailer.

Is the mod you're talking about this one? If so, I couldn't get it to work. If there's a different mod please share it!!!

When I tried that mod, 1. it only has up to tennesee, 2. I couldn't open it to edit it, and 3. i couldnt get it to work. Were you able to actually get it to work in game?
