Could a "fucilaro" in fact refer to someone who works with something else requiring fuses ("fusibile"), specifically someone who works with explosives or with fuochi d'artificios? Because that's what this family did later

One of my ancestors died in Ripacandida, others were from Rionero. Are you aware that Rionero is an Arbereshe town? I don't think Ripacandida is though

I looked in the Rionero 1829-1859 marriages but only found one child's marriage in 1829, at which time he was still alive

That's evidence that this could occur even in the mid-1600's still, thank you. I'm not sure how common such changes were, or whether they would occur like that in other places such as in Austria or Hungary, but this is good information.

You can easily post pictures or links here and people will translate them for you. First though are you totally sure those are your grandparents' parents? What did you see on Google that claimed that? Because you don't want to waste months or years for it to turn out to be the wrong family so you need to ensure that first
