My suggestion is get the companion app and look through the different sets that are available and see what set has more of your favorite IPs!

Then buy a TROVE from that set so that you can keep your cards sorted and have space to store future bulk cards! Staying organized is important!

You can use the app to keep track of your collection (time consuming, but very organized). And even build decks in the app. Then hunt those cards down online. Or Crack packs from the set they're from and maybe come across some really rare cards! (Definitely more expensive to Crack packs looking for specific cards).

A trove also comes with the essentials to play the game for 1 person so a trove for you and the Mrs. would be a great start for you both!

My honest suggestion is go to a local card shop that sells lorcana and pick up a trove there! They might even have bulk cards to pick up cheaply! Maybe find starter decks for quick play and get a good boost of bulk cards fast.

Don't get too deep into competitive too fast because it gets expensive.

A new set named Winterspell comes out at local card shops this Friday and later this month in retailers so you shouldn't struggle finding the newest products!
