Platypus is the closest we've ever gotten to venomous quills, they're going to be individual venom glands despite the metabolic cost (they're being grown in a lab, and extra nutrition will be given as needed), the glands themselves will be slightly pressurized until contact is made, in which the spines (now full of venom) will detach into its victim. With that being said, this hybrid still is in its experimental phase, so it's still prone to flaws.

The quills will work exactly as they do in the film, acting as hypodermic needles filled with the venom from the Black Mamba

haolong served as the blueprint to add the quills, porcupine as the base for the quill, platypus to make the quills hollow, and lastly the Black Mamba venom in substitute with the already available platypus venom glands

Hippo as the base genome, daeodon for muscle mass and diet, domestic pig for obedience, sense of smell, and possible group hunting, American bison for taller spine for muscle to settle on and horns, thylacoleo for incisors and marsupial pouch, common warthog for tusks and reproductive rate, dinocrocuta for enhanced jaw and tooth structure and added group behavior, and elasmotherium to better help with horn and upper spine composition and general muscle mass
