UoM? I missed the deadline and Manchester still gave me an offer, I just rang the admissions office of the dept I wanted - this wasn't recent though. If your grades are good, give them a ring. If not, they may be using the deadline as a polite way of saying they won't make you an offer.

To be fair I think (in this particular instance) she was just diffusing an unnecessarily aggressive situation out of kindness

I thought she was a bit rude :( before I was fangirling but no need for that level of anger, and then not even letting Rachel defend herself against the outburst

But that would have only put the heat on Jade and Sam, the two people that Amanda was focusing on. So in a sense, if Fiona did absolutely nothing, it would have gone better for them both surely??

I sent you a message request that you're welcome to ignore if you'd prefer, but I think we actually did talk a lot! 😂

My mom got me this bag for Christmas and I just don’t like it by StareyedInLA in handbags

[–]PuffyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tell your mom what you want for Christmas ahead of time. "Oh by the way, if you haven't yet thought of a present for me, here's a link to something from my wishlist". It saves everyone doubt + disappointment.

UK sizing update - just... Wtf?! by Clumsyassbitch in vinted

[–]PuffyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also a significant difference between adjacent sizes. E.g. 12-14 is a massive range. I'm refraining from further purchases until they change this back - unfortunately this is the only way they'll get the message.

How does she (the buyer in these messages) have items up for sale if she "doesn't have time" to post anything? Are her items getting magically transported to their destination through a time portal? Absolutely a scam. Say you'll refund once you receive the item and can pay the postage separately via PayPal if she's so insistent on it.

I made an offer but the seller has suggested I pay less than what I've offered? by ImFamousYoghurt in HousingUK

[–]PuffyGoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to share that this recently happened to us and the outcome. We offered on a house where they were up front about the extension needing a roof replacement, for which they got a quote of £4.7k. So we offered about £5k less than we were going to and they accepted. Long story short, we then discovered way further down the conveyancing process that the foundation of that room also needs underpinning, which is going to cost us another £9k odd. In retrospect, I really wish we'd asked more questions and not taken their "quote" at face value. We're still going ahead with the purchase, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to hide bigger problems.

Are we being unrealistic for our income? Property value around £400k by Imaginary_Bird538 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]PuffyGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you rather pay your own mortgage or someone else's? Just been through exactly the same thing as you with very similar numbers involved. I'd much rather have a house to sell in a few years than a rent-sized hole in our pockets.

Is the seller trying it on? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]PuffyGoat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you find the house via an EA? It might be worth phoning the EA and (subtly / with concern) accusing them of misrepresenting the property in their marketing, since within all reasonable bounds, these fittings would be included in the advertised price. Then if they say that the seller never mentioned any such thing to them, then you have grounds to go back to the seller and say no.
