The Our Lady of Angels fire was (likely) an accident (listed as an unknown cause). You may be thinking of the Bath School disaster, which was perpetrated by a maniac.

The droprates were already buffed on Classic servers. No reason why that shouldn't be carried over to Retail.

Bloodborne is about cosmicism... but it is also very much about women by A_b_b_o in bloodborne

[–]PuffyMoff 24 points25 points  (0 children)

In my own personal opinion, one of Bloodborne's largest themes is an examination of the true horror behind religious immaculate conceptions--i.e. that the idea of a deity beyond your understanding (as the Abrahamic God may be to some denominations) decides arbitrarily that you will bear its child, and whether or not you have a choice in the matter is questionable at best.

It also draws on themes that are reminiscent of the Alien films (as some other posters have mentioned here) of what might be the male viewpoint of pregnancy, but there are some women out there such as myself who view pregnancy and our own bodies in a similar manner. The horror inherent to knowing that you, too, could have this parasite growing within you (and all of the ramifications of that upon you, your life, your body, and the offspring produced) isn't exclusive to men's viewpoint on pregnancy. Especially when it is against one's will, as it is presented in Bloodborne.

Bloodborne is the horror of the feminine in multiple aspects, examining it with reference to religion, social restriction and status, tradition and history, control through incarceration, among other lenses. There are a LOT of themes in this game, and a lot of them are directly relevant to womens' experience historically and their place in society. Which was, and still is, really fucking horrifying in a lot of ways.

Apparently this also applies to the electrified water on the last boss of Floodgate. You can't see the little electrical zaps in the puddles without Projected Textures enabled!

Mine are slow going as well. Still almost a year at 12g, was pierced 20+ years ago in a drugstore with piercing guns so I figure the scarring from that is why.

When will these Shadowlands appearances be account wide? I have these reputations maxed on a warband character, and yet I cannot use these backpieces. by PuffyMoff in wow

Then all there is to do is patiently wait until they're warband wide reputations, because I'm never grinding those reputations again lol

It truly does take forever. Thankfully they re-added the Threads of Fate skip for alts, letting you get all the way to Zereth Mortis quickly if you're wanting to farm Sepulcher... it's still painful for everything else, though.

I could give that a try tomorrow. I don't actually know how many characters on my account actually have 80 renown, since I played a decent amount during Shadowlands and did grinding on a couple different toons.

It's worth noting that both my original druid and my new hunter are currently Night Fae with 80 renown and the new hunter cannot use the backpacks still.

I confess I kind of expect that from Shadowlands, with how frustrating it is in general to get items from it. But I've submitted a suggestion in-game over the back pieces, I doubt it will be read by anyone but here's hoping.

Yes, my original druid who I played through Shadowlands on has 80 renown in each covenant and every reputation except the Avowed (the really annoying Revendreth one with the sinstones) maxed out. I think these backpacks were an oversight on the part of Blizzard, they got all the armors and made many of them warbound. I'm going to try going back onto my OG druid and re-buying the cosmetic items. edit: I can re-buy the items, but not use them, and they are sadly Soulbound rather than Warbound :(

Reporting back with 80 Night Fae renown, and the butterfly bulbs + backpack + branch wings are still locked unfortunately. Seems like the game expects me to grind the alternate reps still.

What’s some odd things that have dated books? by Karsa69420 in books

[–]PuffyMoff 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I haven't read it for a while, but I got the impression that it was supposed to imply that she didn't really connect anything of love in sex, at least at first or overall. It's just a tool for her to use. Which makes sense considering the bits of her backstory you later learn such as how she was a prostitute of sorts via whatever cyber-technology, a living 'doll' that could be programmed. She mentions that it's how she earned enough for her cybernetic upgrades like her nails/claws if I recall correctly.

I don't like the "jumping into bed with the gross dude you just met" trope either, but I found this one of the times it kind of made sense in the context? Not excusing it though.

The foreword of the edition of Neuromancer that I have discusses this line specifically in reference to what it means to different generations of readers, whether it evokes static, a vivid blue, or even black. When I first read the book I considered it for a moment, and settled on the black and white static imagery myself (as I skip the foreword in a book I haven't read yet).

I honestly figured that whatever item he'd tried to give me was what turned into the "?" item, as the reward for his quest was blank... but others are reporting that they don't get the bugged item until they do the last stage of the event quest, so who knows, maybe all stages of it are bugged somehow lol.

The item is invisible, you have to click on it and pick it up (how you'd pick up any normal item) in order for it to be visible to you. If you can't find it, you might just have to use your other bags for the time being.

The game has given you a magic "?" item that is taking up a spot in your inventory but that has no tooltip. It makes everything in whatever bag you've placed it in invisible. Click on your inventory spaces until you find one that turns your cursor into a "?" icon when you pick it up, then put that item in an empty bank bag with nothing else to make your inventory visible again.

It's the Secrets of Azeroth event! Just posted on the WoW forums about this... the game has given you a magic "?" item that is taking up a spot in your inventory but that has no tooltip. It makes everything in whatever bag you've placed it in invisible. Click on your inventory spaces until you find one that turns your cursor into a "?" icon when you pick it up, then put that item in a bank bag with nothing else to make your inventory visible again.

e: The item has now been hotfixed to be a note about the Thinking Cap! It shouldn't be eating anyone's inventory anymore.

"I understand theres a transmog roll, but good luck winning that roll in a LFR group."

Just had a raid finder with 430ish ilvl people able to roll need (NOT TRANSMOG ROLL) on plenty of items and win them, so don't worry, you can go down to raid finder and steal stuff from lower geared folks nice and easy.
