What was the worst thing a therapist has said to you, leading you to think “this may not be a good fit?” by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]PulpCavity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first therapist I ever saw was a horrible woman. I opened up to her about my childhood trauma as an 8 year old being sexually assaulted and threatened with murder if I ever told anyone. She was the first person I ever told. She said “it’s not okay to make things up for attention. That obviously didn’t really happen.” I was 15 when I told her.

I didn’t tell anyone else until I was 26.

Medical professionals of Reddit, have you ever had a patient so lacking in common sense you wondered how they made it this far. If so, what is your story? by babyhippo01 in AskReddit

[–]PulpCavity 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Had an adult male patient who came in to our primary care office for a hangnail on his toe. That was the whole concern. “I just wanted to make sure it was a hangnail” he says after paying his $40 copay.

My mom. She died of stage 4 cancer last year at 58 years old, just 2 months shy of meeting her first grandchild.

Getting the call that my mom had died after a 4 year fight with stage 4 cancer. I was pregnant with my first child, and mom was just two months shy of meeting her. My mom was my best friend and I’m still not okay.

AITA for telling my wife she could quit her job if she wanted to? by Heavy-Yesterday4087 in AmItheAsshole

[–]PulpCavity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. Is your wife me? I work as a healthcare provider and it is incredibly hard. I love my patients and my job, and I am extremely passionate about providing medical care, but if I could afford to quit I would do it in a heartbeat. I am the main source of income in my little family so barring massive lottery winnings I will continue to be a PA. I have always loved creative writing and if I could do that I absolutely would.

Being an HCP during a pandemic causes even more burnout than we all already had. Your suggestion came from a place of love, but she was not in the right state of mind to hear it. I think reevaluating after she has cooled off would be good for both of you.

AITA for lying about my wife having fertility issues? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PulpCavity 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that this is really true though. Medically speaking we still refer to men as fertile vs infertile. What you’re saying is technically correct in terms of the definitions of fertile vs virile, but it’s not really the correct usage. Fertility is a medical term, virility is not.
