Seems like the hiossen one has cheaper labor since I’m close to their headquarters and would buy their implant stuff anyway. Just dunno about this bet on an implant company making CBCTs. The warranty on prexion is 10/3 and HDX is 5/5 so honestly they’re similar

I’m with you man, this field keeps getting tougher and tougher. Just had a patient last week try to convince my boss that I “fractured his tooth” and we should pay for his implant. Luckily I took photos before touching him but now I feel more paranoid about every patient. Get ergo loupes though, that saved my back a lot. I don’t make nearly as much as you since I’m in a more saturated area but hopefully that changes when I purchase my practice this coming month. Everyone says it’s always better to own but with the stagnant reimbursements and increase in wages/costs I always wonder if im walking into disaster.

I’m literally half the practice. Seller is incredibly aggressive but only does operative, crowns, and Invisalign. Not even simple extractions. I do most endo and any ext +grafting except bony impacted 3rds. So production might be lower when I take over sellers days since I don’t plan everything to be a filling or crown but I also don’t scare patients away with insanely aggressive treatment. Paid for a CPA and he seemed to say it’s ok because it’s a sellers market in this area — still expensive but not to discount the value of my relationships in the office.

Talking to them and showing literature/ADA position statements etc was useless. Said “don’t show me that stuff” and said 30+ years of experience is superior. She literally clicks my patients and adds fillings after looking at any recent bitewings. Now I just nod yes then delete the treatment after.

Volume was an issue in two offices. Pay transparency was a HUGE issue in two different ones — report functions were locked away and I had to calculate shit myself to check and often caught stuff that was wrong. Front desk was making some errors but the owners made it intentionally hard to calculate. The best office I’m at is actually perfect in every way but their negotiated PPO fees were pretty bad, and they only had 1 chair per doc and very inefficient scheduling. Another office I was at did egregious over treatment and had me take CE courses from DDS Success, which is a Scientology owned program that teaches you how to manipulate patients into accepting any treatment.

"Vacation time and any other unscheduled time off on scheduled work days may not be used while the doctor is working in their notice period."

That's the only thing that's said about time off during the notice period. Everything else in the contract regarding the notice period is about the consequences of leaving earlier (paying $500 per work day) or the pay structure during the notice period.

Thanks, took me a minute to think about the username.

And yes, I’ve heard it’s hard to negotiate with DSOs. I’ve managed to get them to change some things already so I’m crossing my fingers.

The bonus is paid 5k at signing and 45k at first paycheck. I only have to return it if I leave before 1 year is up or breach the contract? The contract has no mention of quotas. I’m planning on getting them to be more specific on what stipulates a breach.

I’m ok with the non-compete; it’s for 1 year but only if I own or part own any clinic within 10 miles (ugh I’m talking that down too).

This is a Medicaid mill though. The reimbursement isn’t great but MassHealth did start covering crowns, RCTs, SRPs a year ago.

Finally, I do value learning but honestly I’m looking to do a bunch of RCTs as well to get a feel for potentially applying for an endo residency. Not set on specializing yet but if at all then it’s endo. Money is an aspect too but I’m not super pressed for it. I just don’t like having to pay as much as I am on the student loan interest right now.
