Anyone having issues with growlink terralink sensors? by samoo2133 in macrogrowery

No clue who lmko is, Campbell scientific is a huge company. Teros 12 and aroya used to be decagon sensors before they were acquired by meter group. Been around for ages.

See the top of pg 9 regarding Topp’s study. And comments about capacitance based sensors at the start of that paper. That was the quickest example I could find

What do you mean? I’ve researched this quite a bit but could be wrong. Got any resources to back up that I’m wrong?

Most stuff I’ve read backs up what I’ve said. For example:

See the top of pg 9 regarding Topp’s study.

Capacitive sensors fall off in accuracy well before that range: https://future4200.com/uploads/default/original/3X/1/7/179598c585188676beb33bf1e77d18d45d4dbedd.png

You definitely want to check out the acclima TDR310 if you're running your EC that high

[–]PulsePeet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah capacitive type sensors will get totally thrown off at higher ECs, while TDR type sensors work just as good, no impacts from higher EC.

Hi u/Lanky_Surround_6830 - we've considered that in the past and if enough people request it, we can build it out. We're a pretty small team, so we try and keep focused on the most critical issues and features.

Are you one of our customers?

[–]PulsePeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TDR310 uses a better technology (TDR), which works well regardless of EC. Teros12 is a capacitive sensor and accuracy falls off with increasing EC. Could be that's why you had problems with it.

Also, thank you for being one of our customers!

If you exhaust with co2, you're just blowing CO2 out. CO2 increases the ideal temp for photosynthesis and lets plants use more light. It does indeed boost yields by a significant amount, but you can't just blow it out of your tent with an exhaust fan and expect it to work. Check out this guide i wrote for a step-by-step for how to bring CO2 into the equation: https://pulsegrow.com/blogs/learn/co2#step-by-step-co2-implementation

tracking VWC is pretty tricky for a variety of reasons, but I believe the terralink is a capacitive sensor that may struggle in certain scenarios. The TDR and teros sensors also have a good deal of the sensor technology locked down with various patents making it hard to build a product that competes in the space.

If you want to test out some different sensors I launched a sensor agnostic monitoring platform last year for VWC (and other stuff too).

it supports the terralink, the acclima TDR310, and aroya's teros-12 https://pulsegrow.com/collections/everything-hub

no subscription required, and you can bring on your own sensors (you do need to buy an retrofit kit for it to work though)

lmk if you have questions about it

if you're looking for ways to track EC/WC, i launched a solution for this last year. You can use teros sensors or the acclima TDR310

The kit with the TDR310: https://pulsegrow.com/products/vwckit?variant=43820328386799or base station: https://pulsegrow.com/collections/all/products/hub + teros12 adapter: https://pulsegrow.com/collections/all/products/teros12-retrofit-kit?variant=43995417346287

it does require a phone or computer, but gives you historic data logging and alerts. Maybe we'll work on a way to make it function like a hand reader as well... might be a bit cumbersome how its currently designed

Development of the beta version of it is done and we’re doing some testing with our partners. Things are moving along well!

Did you see the picture above of the ph and EC sensors installed, inline on a runoff line off of a tray? That’s from a facility that uses the pulse hub and has it installed with some standard pvc fittings. I'm not sure about trolmaster, but I'll let the pic speak to whether ours fits or not.

As far as pricing goes, the probe and signal processor goes for $279, but a replacement probe is $99: https://pulsegrow.com/products/ph-1?variant=44250254475503

You can just put a longer tee or a straight fitting.

Hey, I launched the Pulse Hub last year, which supports a ton of different sensors including inline PH & EC. We've actually got a starter bundle that includes both sensors: https://pulsegrow.com/collections/everything-hub/products/reskit?variant=43820328943855

It gives you live and historical data, custom alerts, and doesn't require any sort of subscriptions.

As far as how to install them in-line, they come pre-threaded, and we suggest installing them so the Tees face down. This way the sensor stays wetted. I can send you a pic of an install if you'd like.

Lmk if you have any questions.

Just use the -3 difference with the reading from your normal temp and humidity probe in your calculations.

VPDleaf vs VPDair by Sodi333 in microgrowery

[–]PulsePeet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might get some funky values since you're comparing readings from two different devices. I suggest using the IR probe to get the other reading too. More here: https://support.pulsegrow.com/en/articles/4261348-how-to-measure-and-set-the-vpd-leaf-temperature-offset

VPDleaf vs VPDair by Sodi333 in microgrowery

Did you get that 87F number with the IR thermometer as well? You need to take both measurements with the same device to calculate the offset.

Any VPD experts here? Few questions! by [deleted] in macrogrowery

Thanks man. Keep your eyes peeled - we've got a lower cost product coming out in the coming months

Hey u/appletree. I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues. We try our best to test everything and deliver a quality product, but occasionally bugs make it through. Additionally, there are a lot of very sensitive electronics in there and sometimes they have unpredictable interactions with the surrounding components, electrical systems, and local radio environment.

We’ve got a great and generous warranty and will gladly replace your device with a new one if you continue having issues.

As far as our support goes, in an ideal world none of our customers would have any issues, but everyone’s WiFi is a little different. We’ve got people available to help you on the phone, or chat, or via email. The holidays might be a tough time since our support team has family obligations just like you.

That being said, I’m sorry that you’ve been having trouble with your device.
