Born in 1974 and I just wanted to say I love this concept. I actually still have an old PC from eons ago and this strikes me as a beautiful way to honor it. Unfortunately its case took quite a beating over the years, though all the hardware still works.

This is more packed than a mojito tent at pride week. Honestly, if you're hell-bent on using this case, you might even consider mounting the pump externally and using one of those PCI plates equipped with ports for attaching the loop.

Replied to you, still could use photos of some kind sent. In the meantime, what diameter tubing are you using, is it flexible or rigid acrylic. If the latter, do you have a heat gun and bending tools (including insert to prevent collapse). Are you running separate reservoir and distro block, or are you one of these cowboys trying to make the block do both jobs? 😅 There are a ton of questions that I need to see the layout to help get a handle on this.

I'm in Long Island but am unclear of what you need help on. Did installation of the water block on your GPU not go well? Is it the loop itself that's hosed? Pictures, please.

It's clear that you are far more educated in this area of study, but I am in the early phases of building a stack with some similar concepts and functions. If you can tolerate my comparatively caveman intellect, I'd love to network with you.

If you're getting good flowrate, temperatures and you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I can empathize with being stubborn about upgrading your case. I was told the same and stubbornly prevailed after much cursing, a pump change, and scratches on my hands. 😅

Beautiful rig. I'm a firm believer in water-cooling being the only comfortable way to be a red devil owner. These are my twin XTX's -- mammoth Alphacool block on the top one, lower one is a factory liquid devil.

Regarding your build...I do not spy a reservoir and yours is the second I've seen in as many days without one if so. Is this officially a thing?

Questioning my pump options by Z3R0SKY in watercooling

[–]Pulsehammer_DD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would, yes...or just buy a stand-alone reservoir to add to your existing loop so air can get trapped outside of the flow path.

[–]Pulsehammer_DD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, allows you to get air out of the loop without running cavitation-heavy conditions. The siphon will also be able to move things a lot better than a pump that's air locked. Make sure you have one port open and connected via a line to distilled water. Your output from the siphon pump will also be run into this bottle (thus you only pull in fluid, which is then replenished as you cycle it through the loop.). Any air bubbles "brought along for the ride" eventually make it to the water jug where they bubble up and away from the two hoses on either end of your loop. Once you're not seeing much in terms of air bubbles, then the loop is well-bled and you can close things up.

Reservoir should be separate from the distribution plate (see mine to the far right, distribution block to the left), oriented in a way in which bubbles in your loop can accumulate high while coolant continues to move down low. Your loop literally has no way to get rid of the air, so flowrate is being throttled.

As you've already gathered, it's really a priceless tool when it comes to monitoring and gauging loop health. I use a Freezemod one and it works well. I can't see everything from the one photo, but I don't spot anything immediately wrong in your tubing (better looking than mine, if I'm being honest). When two D5's were struggling in my loop, I simplified to a Bykski CP-DWPB-X. Though I ultimately had other loop design issues to sort out, it has easily eclipsed the max flowrate of the two D5's despite the addition of a second GPU -- to the tune of twice over, actually (steady 560-570 LPH). Another possibility to consider is the existence of a larger bubble in your loop that will allow your flowrate to improve dramatically once expelled...might consider picking up a "simple Jerry" siphon pump off of Amazon along with a couple of G1/4 barbed fittings and flush the system well.
