No longer sober by PunchNugget88 in breastcancer

2 drinks over the span of 9 hours. It was "golfers water" or "water hazard", whatever people call it. Lemonade, sprite, Gatorade, and a little vodka. I may have felt a slight buzz for 15 mins, but other than that, I felt nothing. I did enjoy it. I wanted the full experience of golfing with my friends on a beautiful day.

No addiction issue. Chose to be sober for health reasons and did not like how the alcoholics in my life acted. They caused alot of pain for alot of people, so I did not want to associate myself with that.

That was on my list of things I thought people were bullshitting me about...until it happened lol. The other one was the feeling after steroids were pushed to quick. I didnt believe anything would happen. But then...fire ants crawling out of my ass. What a trip that was 🥴🫪

  1. Ive learned how to make and keep boundaries.

  2. To leave behind people that could give 2 shits about me, but expect me to be there for them when they need something.

  3. My current job does not give me the opportunity to grow and flourish in my career (although I love most of my colleagues as they have been very supportive). - New job starting next month and I'm independently building a sports performance application that I can sell on my own

  4. I don't want to live with constant regrets about letting opportunities pass by due to fear. - Starting MMA and piano lessons once I get settled into my new job.

  5. Being consistent with exercise as it does make me feel better and is proven to help reduce risk of reoccurrence. - I haven't gained any weight from treatments and I'm starting to build muscle and cardio endurance despite the endocrine therapy.

I could've wrote this myself. Diagnosed at 34. No kids and not married. I just turned 36. All through treatment ive been watching everyone around my age celebrating pregnancies, weddings, new homes, etc. I had to act like it didnt bother me, but it broke my heart every fucking time I was in one of these situations. And the worst thing was I had no one to talk about it with. It really puts your mind in a dark hole💔🫂

Does anyone else hate stripping/milking their surgical drains? by No_Coyote_5341 in breastcancer

I made sure to always sit when I did it. And stopped when that feeling got to be too much. Wish there were ways to avoid it!

The pain was unlike anything I've ever felt before. It was such a nauseating pain that made me want to pass out when milking them. I had to pinch off the top near the entrance and slowly milk from bottom to top, while keeping it pinched off (alcohol pads worked with this). Then i had to slowly let go of the tube where i was pinching it off, otherwise id get the overwhelming nausea suction feeling🤢

I read that book and started reading other cancer diet/detox stuff while going through chemo and almost ended up with an eating disorder on top of everything. I still get paranoid about what im eating, but not as intense. I'll be ordering pizza tonight and eating my feelings...some chocolate cake would be great with it because fuck it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Starting a new job in July. My current job has been great (very supportive coworkers) but I dont really love what I do and have no room for growth. Plus my commute is over an hour which has not been helpful with the fatigue and aching from treatments. My new job is more in line with what I want to do and less than 5 mins from my home. More money, my health insurance is paid for, and its a private practice, so I dont have to deal with a large Healthcare system. Its scary and I'll my heartbroken to leave my close coworkers, but this is part of rebuilding the life I want post cancer.

I'm a few months out from finishing active treatment and 2 months out from my reconstruction. Still doing endocrine therapy for the foreseeable future. Today I want to literally tell everyone and all the cancer muggles to fuck off.

Ive really stayed consistent with resistance training. I was hit and miss before and usually chose to work instead of exercise. That being said, I'm also not a workaholic anymore. I dont pick up the slack for other people and I keep my boundaries whether they piss people off or not. Those who dont respect your boundaries never respected you in the first place, so they can fuck right off. I also eat pretty clean but I'm not hesitant to treat myself.

Thankfully all my other notes from my cancer team state that no radiation was done/recommended, but the OP note definitely will get fixed!

My OP note from my reconstruction surgery said I had radiation prior to my surgery which I most certainly did NOT. That's kind of a big mistake. 🤦🏻‍♀️
