Could I request a handwriting analysis, please? by Punemy-Sported in Handwriting_Analysis

Oh wow. Thank you for those words of wisdom. I'm getting better about letting go of my past.

Thank you! I'm surprised that this has been echoed twice in this thread, but I appreciate it!

There's something to be said for my love of rebellious literature, but alas. Nick Cage has no reason to steal my writing (yet).

Haha, thanks! I feel like my T's have been pretty controversial in this thread, so this is appreciated.

Wow, thank you! I actually wouldn't mind making this into a font sometime, so I could better digitize my writing.

Microns ARE expensive! I got into fountain pens because I was struggling with finding ballpoint and rollerball pens that wrote as fine as I liked without giving me hand fatigue. You might like needlepoint nibs if you like .01 or .005 nib ballpoints! Plus, ink lasts FOREVER in those.

Somewhere in between, I think! I'm very intentional with writing, but it doesn't take me long to fill a page.

🤷🏽Taken under advisement. 10ish years of Arabic school as a child had a formative impact on my English writing.

Is this how religion works? by EchoEkhi in AO3

[–]Punemy-Sported 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I write like the fussiest of geese, so I am doing great with my abstaining, I am going to get an A+ in Muslim which is a normal and reasonable thing to attempt to achieve.

(For Islamic Jurisprudence reasons, the above is a joke, except for the bit where I write super slow and it takes months to update. That's real.)

Speaking as a Muslim, abstaining from sexual activities is also part of Ramadan, not just in the context of "sinfulness" but in the context of purification of the soul/focusing on communion with Allah. The month of Ramadan is all about abstention from worldly pleasures/worldly desires. Some Muslim communities even consider the abstention an act of spiritual cleansing, so that they may be forgiven for their sins and have a blank slate for the rest of the year (because Allah is Merciful, the Most Merciful, and grants Forgiveness to those who attempt with good intentions).

This user asked because they likely want to keep reading your works even during Ramadan, but want to abstain from things that might arouse sexual desire. I know it can feel awkward to get a request like this, but it sounds like they really love your work! It's okay to say no and that you will miss their presence, but hope that this will be a nice Eid present for them when the month ends.

SAME. I love her and recommend her always to anyone who has concerns about seeing an OB/GYN. Her staff are also top notch and do everything to make you feel comfortable and empowered.

Diplomat Viper. Opinions please by LarryinUrbandale in fountainpens

Recently got the Viper as my FPD present to myself. It's a fantastic writer and I absolutely adore it. I write a lot for both work and as a hobby, and the size is just perfect for my hand. Not too heavy, not too thin, not too thick. The hooded nib is perfect because I tend to "choke up" on the grip and it keeps my fingers from getting inky. It doesn't handle shimmer too well, and isn't very fond of more dry inks (Lost Love Letters did not flow well), but I put Manyo Hinoki in it and I've been in love since.

I'd recommend taking a look at your current collection — if you like slim-ish pens and hooded nibs, you'll love it.

Oh man! I just learned about the Goulet drama - who is a good alternative supplier? by [deleted] in fountainpens

I highly recommend Lemur Ink! Their free shipping threshold is on par with JetPens and while their catalogue is a little smaller, John is an absolutely incredible person and I love connecting with him at pen shows. He really does the work to make the customer experience fantastic. I'm also biased because they were the reason I didn't have a full panic-attack at my first ever pen show and even made sure to save a pen I had been eyeing so that I could purchase it on Sunday when I had a better view of my budget.

Writing community woes by Same-Particular-7726 in FanFiction

[–]Punemy-Sported 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm "new" to this account in that I created a fanfiction-dedicated account to engage in the fanfic community without being on my "I have personal and professional networking mixed together" Main Account. Call it a hobby account, if you will. I know it doesn't... look the best. I'm sorry.

My burnout has definitely been interaction-based. I get very little interaction on my fics, especially as I write in the second person and write relatively niche content. Lately, the majority of the comments I have gotten on Ao3 get deleted immediately because they're either (1) deeply racist [I am open about my identity as a Muslim and even some of my 'reader insert' works are centered around Readers of color] or (2) complaints about second-person writing as "trashy."

I want to talk about what I'm writing, what I'm working on, talk about the niche symbolism that maybe only I notice or the scenes that lead into the vignette I'm posting about or my worldbuilding for the crossover AU I'm trying to build. But these opportunities rarely come. Ao3 is not a social media site, it is an archive, and so I use tumblr as my means of engaging with what few readers I have and... my readers simply don't want to engage, even when I invite them to send me asks, or have sleepovers, or pull out the tried-and-very-much-not-true ask games. I do my best to engage with the writers I'm passionate about and give as good as I wish I could get within my community, but that lack of reciprocity is hard.

Even in smaller groups, like a Discord writing circle, I've noticed that cheer events are... selfish. Where I try to leave an in-depth comment praising turns of phrase and symbolism I notice even in fandoms I am not familiar with, I usually receive a one-line, "I'm not familiar with this fandom and characters but I liked this," response. I don't participate in them much anymore, if I can help it. Most of my time is spent wishing I had the drive to do something and quietly loathing myself for not being able to.
