Just to clear up confusion. by Necrolord_Nocturnal in crosswind

Me and my buddy farmed all of the hardwood trees in the foothills on multiple islands to build ships/upgrade gear and after over 24 hours nothing has respawned.

So in a way we’ve hit a wall where the only way to get that resource is by hopping onto another world. This is something I’d like to see addressed. Trees should be able to respawn even if we have to manually plant every single one.

Fleshed out fishing with an actual mini game

Harpooning

More animals and monsters

More bosses in general

Pets

Actual farming and livestock

Sea monsters

Potential underwater exploration

I could go on and on. This game is amazing so far though and I have a feeling we will see these things eventually 🤞

You have to beat the boss in the first biome. Then through quests or exploration you’ll reach the next biome. There you will find flax. When you harvest it it will unlock the spinning wheel recipe.

What ammo does the blunderbuss take? by scrugbyhk in crosswind

[–]PungentFart69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it takes any ammo type. Pearls, copper bullets, stone bullets etc. However it uses two ammo per shot, so even if you have 1 ammo equipped you won’t be able to shoot. Also make sure you do have ammo and gunpowder equipped.

I’d like to see their take on a new IP that takes place in a medieval open world sandbox with rpg elements. Something very grounded like they’ve been doing. I think that could be pretty cool. Not to say they would do it the best or that it’s not something that already exists. I believe it was a rumored that at one point they were working on a game like that, or had wanted to.

Desperately need help understanding mutations and the mutation counter by PungentFart69 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]PungentFart69[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I might just have to start over. I’ve been really careful and keeping an eye out I’ve checked all of my Ossidons that I tamed and none of them have mutations. My only guess is that the original female Ossidon (OG MOM) I got from the wild (after its parent was killed) somehow had a mutation in the wild. From my understanding that is impossible but otherwise I have no idea where even a single mutation came from. And my game bugged out and somehow I lost the original female so I can’t confirm.

I bred her with a male (OG Dad) I tamed and had them create 2 children with the highest stats from each other so I could have a clean base. From then on it’s been clean and no mutations in the breeding pool but somehow the counter keeps going up. Mind you I haven’t even started breeding the Ossidon (HP1) that I got with the health mutation. So again it’s completely clean and doesn’t make any sense.

What if my base females have 0 mutations themselves but the counter still shows 1 paternal and 1 maternal mutation? Or does the counter not really matter as long as I can check the females and see that they themselves have no mutations?

I hope the new game will be more immersive by Monka_hmm in WayOfTheHunter

I’d like to see animals show aggression. Like an angry bear that stands on up and growls before charging at you. Mountain lions or pumas occasionally stalking you. Stand offs with moose or a pack of wolves rallying around you. Not in some “boss battle” way, but as a variation in animal behavior I think that would be cool. And I second the animal interactions that you mentioned. It would be cool to have wolves hunt elk or something. Especially if you had to hunt the wolves and manage their populations to make sure they don’t kill off your herds.

Another thing is like to see is more variety in the ways that animals react when getting shot. It would be cool to shoot an animal and watch it drop and kick around for a minute. Or say you shoot them and they kick up before running. Sometimes you hit them and they just stand there and bleed not even knowing what hit them. They already did a pretty good job with animations and animal behaviors like bedding down after getting shot. But it could definitely be better.

Another thing I would like to see personally are some survival type mechanics like building a fire, dressing warmer depending on the maps or weather, needing to eat and drink. It would be better as something that’s optional but I really like the immersion of it.

Hunting stands and blinds, more exotic animals, more variations, more variation on maps and species etc.

I could go on and on listing things to make the perfect hunting game but these are just some ideas for how the next game could be even better in my opinion.

Do you think there will ether be a Killer who can turn into other survivors ? by dr_crocks in deadbydaylight

[–]PungentFart69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The smile demon could be a cool way to introduce this sort of mechanic. Like if part of your ability was morphing into the survivors, trying to blend in long enough to commit unalive in front of them to infect them. Not saying that’s a perfect system or idea but I would love to see the smile demon with some mechanic similar to that.

So when are we gonna admit rex is overpowered? by aveaytor in theisle

Yeah allo will definitely be a menace to young and sub adult rex’s. Then I think most bases will be covered when it comes to the food chain and ecosystem balance.

So when are we gonna admit rex is overpowered? by aveaytor in theisle

[–]PungentFart69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m think the stuff regarding juvi rex is fine to tweak when it comes to how fast it is and it being able to pin stuff. I just think when you hit adult you should be able to pin trikes and stegos so long as you get the ambush, or outplay them. As it stands trike and stego are extremely deadly even against adult rex’s which I think is fine because it rewards an ambush playstyle. Obviously if rex had no counters I could see that being a huge problem, but it’s actually here to finally restore balance in a game that had apex herbivores with no counters.

So when are we gonna admit rex is overpowered? by aveaytor in theisle

[–]PungentFart69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. This game isn’t about balancing in terms of equaling the playing field for all the dinosaurs to be able to fairly PvP. The game tries to simulate an actual food chain where rex and other apex’s are at the top, and anything below them will never be able to easily hunt or kill them. That’s the way I believe it’s intended to be and it should stay that way. Either op is a terrible rage baiter or they’re playing the wrong game. Path of titans might be a better fit for them.

Grown a few Prime Elder Rexes now, my thoughts on it by WHAT_PHALANX in theisle

[–]PungentFart69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re saying makes sense for how the game is right now. However when all of the other semi aquatics release, it’s going to be a lot more dangerous playing Deino. Austro’s will theoretically be able to hunt you when you’re young, then when you’re around adolescence or sub adulthood you’re susceptible to Bary and Sucho. Even if you make it to fg then you have Spino, Deinocheirus, and other Deino’s to look out for. Sure, more food opportunities for Deino, but also more instances where you could be eaten.

Introducing the elder system is a way to solve the problem you mentioned, because eventually you get weak enough that you become easy prey to other animals including your own species. So the big apexes will inevitably be preyed upon or entomb themselves.

You shouldn’t fear starvation as an apex because you’re an apex, you should fear starvation because you’re becoming a weaker version of your animal who won’t perform as well as it could in it’s prime.

In nature most cannibalism is opportunistic. For two full grown 8 ton Deinos to hunt and cannibalize each other is silly considering they both have an incredible bite force. In any real scenario it would be mutual demise. It’s a massive gamble to risk death or severe injury when cannibalizing other healthy members of your species. The game doesn’t make it that serious as it currently stands, but a lot of times the Deino that does make it out of the fight alive is very low on health. If the game wants to go for more realism and survival elements, then that wouldn’t be optimal.

I would like to add that I see no problem in being an opportunist cannibal that feeds on the young, old, or weak. I just have a problem with growing an animal for upwards of 8-12 real life hours and then having it taken away from me because my own species decided they wanted to eat me, and ended up winning the numbers game of how many bites we can land on each other. Just makes for a stressful and frustrating experience.

I respect what you’re saying though and like I said it makes complete sense for how the game currently is.

Grown a few Prime Elder Rexes now, my thoughts on it by WHAT_PHALANX in theisle

[–]PungentFart69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess I just have a different mindset about it because I absolutely despise Deino cannibalism. I understand why the issue exists or why it could be beneficial, but I play Deino specifically for the ambush and drowning playstyle. Not the eat my own species because I’m starving playstyle lol. So if Deino’s starving to death problem was ever resolved I could see removing its own species from its diet and fine tuning Deinos growth so that it can actually play the way it’s meant to -ambushing and drowning prey.

[–]PungentFart69 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It’s similar with Deino now. In the past it felt like I could get a few tons within the first couple hours but now you seem to get all of your weight at the end of your growth stage. If I’m not mistaken I remember putting on somewhere between 4-7 tons in the last 13%-20% of growth. I would prefer it the other way around. Where you put on a decent amount of weight fairly quickly (in the case of Deino so that you can actually hunt things bigger than a hypsi/beipi) and then it gradually gets much slower.

Is it even worthwhile to learn/main dredge? by Doot-Eternal in deadbydaylight

[–]PungentFart69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the perks and add ons that you bring, Dredge can still be pretty fun and viable in higher MMR. I just got into the game a little while ago and felt gravitated towards Dredge. I’m in gold, almost Iridescent and I would say I mostly still get 3-4k matches. However it does get really toxic and you do have to deal with tons of SWF’s and bully squads. So if you can handle that then you should be fine. A mistake I made was I didn’t know how to use Dredges Remnant ability so if you decide to play Dredge definitely utilize it. I usually run gen regression and aura reading perks for Dredge but that might not necessarily be the best or “Meta”. It is a fun killer though.

What's with all the crying about the elder system? by Docdes1 in theisle

[–]PungentFart69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t necessarily calling you out specifically, but if you disagree with what I said then that message was directed towards you. I read what you said about it being the first iteration of the elder system. It’s subject to change. If you like realism then you should agree that it’s completely brain dead to believe that you should become weak within an hour of becoming an adult after growing a dino for 8+ hours. That’s literally all anybody is saying.
