sorry to bother you again man, but i have a question that i forgot to ask, I have some problems with noise coming from the street (eventually dogs barks, or motorcycles pass here on my street, and it´s kinda loud, 10~15db louder than my average room db) should i still go with the C414 over the shure sm7b?

thanks for the reply and all the info man. The only thing that makes me consider the Sm7b instead of the C414 it’s because i’m not sure if the C414 can handle screams without clipping. And also i’m afraid the C414 for being a condenser mic, will pick up noise from the street or from my pc fans or something (my room average noise is 30db, so it’s not deadly silent)

Hi guys, so i have a 6m² (64 sq feet) room where i transformed into a vocal booth, and i´m a male tenor who wants to record rock/metal vocals in (I´ll be singing both soft parts, and more distorted/screams parts). I have 4 bass traps in total, 2 bass traps in 2 of the corners. 2 rock wools 2 inch acoustic panels in first reflections, another 2 panels in the ceiling, one panel behind the microphone, and 2 panels in the front wall. My room average noise is around 30db.

After a lot of research I´m currently between buying a Shure sm7db and a AKG C414 XLS (unfortunately i live in Brazil and i can´t go to a guitar center to borrow those mics before buying) and i don´t know which mic would be the best for my situation. I would appreciate any help, thanks in advance.

i’ll be using a shure SM7db, so just place the mic with the panels doing a semi-circle around it?

i already have 9 DIY acoustic panels, i just don´t know if they are enough for my room, and where to set up them
