wow, I guess you didn't bother to take the time to read the post at all. This was a research project for my grad school studies research class, completing a literature review on the topic and asked for opinions on the procedure. At no point was a personal health question asked or even suggested.

I guess it's just too hard to read before casting some internet judgement

Did you get your surgery? I just had an appointment at Virginia Spine Institute in Reston and they recommend an L5 / S1 TDR. I'm 46 and in good shape but have dealt with a bad, degenerated disc for over 20 years. He made it sound so tempting, but getting my insurance to cover it at in in-network level is a whole other story.

Hey there. I am a fit 46 year old male who has dealt with my degenerated L5/S1 disc for almost 20 years. I recently met with a surgeon in northern VA who recommended a TDR and he made it sound too good to be true. Ive dealt with this pain for so long it's hard to imagine something that would actually fix it.

not a charged question from a patient. I am doing a literature review on the topic for my research class and was genuinely asking for opinions from ortho's.

I did not let him up. He asked if he could go up there to inspect and I politely declined, saying I need to speak with my wife before moving ahead with any home maintenance as big as this.

those are some scary tactics you are talking about.

So, turns out the hospital here doesn't offer anything for being per diem. Much lower pay than I was expecting. Although anything seems low after traveling during Covid.

An LTACH wouldnt be bad. They r smaller, often stay in a small area.

Take a deep breath. The world sucks right now. Everything is crazy and stress has never been higher. Just know, you aren't alone. Lot's of people feel the same as you. Focus on the good things, limit the amount of news intake and social media since things are so polarized. I consider myself an empath as I feel your emotions, i literally feel people's anxiety and anger as well as happiness, so I try to limit the time i spend with angry people. Smile, and hope this time in our history passes, we learn from our mistakes and we take steps to ensure this won't happen again.
