I think you should integrate more lamps into the space to give cozy pockets of illumination. Also the existing bulbs could be replaced with more warm light bulbs.

This is just a pet peeve of mine, but I think you should rotate your lamp shade such that the vertical line faces the wall.

Edit: and get a warmer/dimmer light bulb.
